If this is what you both do for income, maybe it's time one of you two find a 9-5 job. Sorry to be a dick, but this is a sport/hobby and you should be grateful it pays anything at all.

You're old enough to know life isn't fair. Oh, and everybody "pays" to be in the event. Whether an employer pays the fee for the rider or if the rider pays, someone is paying.

I do agree it seems like a shitty situation and one that wasn't in your favor this time around. Now let's pretend this happened the other way around, what would your stance be?
You are the clear winner of the biggest ass hat jack wagon this week. Congratulations!

Years ago, my rider got a 250 Nat'l holeshot crossing the white chalk line first and after the moto, rode back to the podium for his thousand dollar award.

AMA official says he didn't get the holeshot award and it wasn't who crossed the white line first, but where you crossed it first that determined who got the award. Huh?

A reasonable request for video proof asked for was immediately denied by AMA officials without hesitation.

Why for my original post after seeing another ridiculous ruling.

So that means you've asked a question and are waiting for an answer - right?

So, you were there in a perfect line with the finish? Any photos from last night?

Because if you were not in a perfectly straight line with the finish, you assertion is not worth shit.

yeah were directly across from it, in front of the triple and it was obvious he beat him from our seats! which is probably why somebody questioned it. we were like, "wow that was awesome he got him" and then on the screen it showed he didnt. we were like "how did that happen"?

Excuse the pun but I lost a lot of faith in the AMA here,we go off transponders for the fastest lap and qualifiers etc so what they're saying is that the actual finish is at the bottom of the jump when it comes to crucial decisions like this,so tell me why don't they put the transponders there then to get in line with the "visual" ??

That close of time with transponders would have to go to a photo/video wouldn't it? I assume its the first part of the bike to cross the finish line. I also assume the transponder is located near the headset? That would not be the first part across the line.
Pointer ... the transponders for auto racing are frequently positioned equal to either the left front spindle or the #1 sparkplug on the frame/upper loop of the cage. Neither of which are the first part to cross a "finish line".

I think it's easy to see the sanctioning body will be very diligent in the future explaining the finish line location in relationship to the flagstand.

Seems to me the first question is - where exactly is the finish line. Could be where the big 'Finish Line' sign is (duh), or where the guy waving the flag is, or where the transponder pick up is, or could be some place at or near the bottom of the finish line jump. Sounds like some of these may or may not be in the same place from race to race. Then there's the question of exactly what part of the bike has to break that line to finish.

Seems like a clustersquabble to me...

As always, to avoid useless argument, check the rulebook before you spout off.

Here is the pertinent rule:
i. A video camera may be used at the finish line to aid the
scorekeepers in determining the finishing order of a close race.
Should video footage from an AMA-designated camera be
unavailable or inconclusive for any reason, the scoring of the
finish will be based solely on the scorekeepers' decision.

There is nothing in the section that comes from (4.22 Race Finishes) about transponders being used to determine finishing order.

no, pretty sure it's because of your idiotic comments.

"we" as in team..is that so strange to hear? wtf

and loudog happens to be a small business owner, he does way more than "9 to 5" already and is footing most of the bill for his kid to race. yeah, "everybody pays", no shit. in this case it happens to be the guy you're bitching at.

That takes care of one aspect and I guess is all very well but a certain argument is why don't they put the transponder line here too?

Also one thing that just came to mind is that technically there can't be a laptime for the LAST lap of the race?? Because the race ends at the BOTTOM of the jump and they effectively end the race before going through the transponder point at the TOP,crazy!

We got screwed Weston was ahead at the top of the jump and were they wave the checkerd flag and were the transponder clicks off. They told us that they went by the bottom of the jump total bullshit. We really didnt have any say so. If it was a factory rider it would have been different. Why do we need transponders this is how we make our monie and we got ripped off tonight. Not really fair for someone that is paying to be in the mains.

So in a motorsport of this magnitude there is no camera mounted on the finish line? Just a guy "watching"? No one ever questioned the lack of a camera focused straight across the finish line just for this purpose?

And the finish line is actually about 15-20 feet in front of the labelled finish line where the guy waves the flag?

Imagine the scenario was 1 and 2 going for the title in Vegas, winner of race takes title, instead of an LCQ at round 7.

You can't make this shit up.

what if this was for the win in the main? I think that it was a very bad call. They go off the transponders every week and now they go and do this. I guess they have been wrong the whole time with Bubba being the fastest almost every week.

View from the press box. It was clear as day who's wheel was in front as they left the takeoff. This is a weak cell phone pic of the view and FYI, there was not a person within earshot that thought Faith got there first. All the other "politics" that followed........well, that was someone else's call.

This is something that really makes me laugh about all of the idiots on here. On page 2 LouDog clearly states the FIM made the call, not the AMA and I a,m making the assumption he knows what he is talking about. What follows his post is 2 and a half pages of people with such a blind hatred of the AMA that they are still blaming the AMA for something the FIM did. That is kinda like me blaming Newt Gingrich for Obamacare!

So the AMA stood by and did nothing when wrongs were being dealt? Sounds about right.
