I know people on this board don't care for the guy, but he has been riding his ass off this season. He's had a few crashes that held him back, but he is ripping it up pretty good for a privateer. Not one photo of him in all the race reports, they barely mention his name on the air. He sits 11th in points and is coming back to the speed he was known for. I think its about time for some of the honda teams to look and see that Nico is faster than their riders. If he gets on a good ride i think he will be back to some success.

Izzi did ride well top 10 overall is legit!
Right now he'd benefit from some suspension testing, and from some fitness. He's had trouble keeping his practice bike running (due to a comedy of errors), so he didn't get in as much riding as he wanted between Freestone and High Point.
As for the part about, "If he gets on a good ride..." He needs to step up and put in the results, and show that he can run the pace for the whole moto. He's got the potential to do it. But they're not exactly handing out factory rides like candy these days.
not rippin him, i kinda like Izzi and been rootin for him to finish well. hope he has a good season.
That said, I think Izzi deserves another shot on a decent bike like Rockstar Suzuki or a fill in ride with Geico. No offence to Swanepoel but why the hell would they pick him with no supercross experience over someone like Izzi who really still has some upside.

The first time I met Nico was at the Pontiac SX and he was a polite kid from Michigan with braces who was in awe of our semi and the whole team set up (and he kept calling me Mr. Lindsey lol).
I’ll admit that since then he has “strayed” a little bit, but who are any of us to judge? We’ve talked about this topic a thousand times, and I personally believe that we expect WAY too much maturity out of our riders at a very young age. In other words, take your average 16-18 year old, throw a bunch of money, factory bikes, free clothes, etc. and attention at him, then have him move to So-Cal to “live the dream” and see what happens. Guys like Andrew Short and Justin Brayton are the exception to the rule, NOT the rule in my opinion. Nine out of ten kids are going to go the wrong direction in that scenario and it’s not necessarily their fault.
We’ve also seen plenty of riders get their big shot, squander it, and then fade off into ditch digging. The ones who REALLY impress me are the ones who dig SO deep that they are willing to privateer it, against all odds when the industry has basically discarded them, race a bike that isn’t at the level that they’ve had in the past, and gut it out, slowly but surely earning back people’s respect. You can’t possibly imagine the humble pie they must be eating along the way. It’s a daunting task, and most either can’t cut it, or simply don’t want to even try.
Disclaimer: I’m obviously on a bit of a rant here lol and I’m not trying to stereo type Nico because other than that time at Pontiac, I’ve hardly ever talked to him so I don’t begin to know his full story. But from the outside looking in it seems like he fits that story line, and I for one am pulling for him.
One last thing, and I mention this in the piece on Racer X: it may appear that he “needs more training” but for some reason I couldn’t take my eyes off him in the first moto (mainly because he was hauling ass!) and I’m telling you, he kept the same gap over Blake Bagget (who I think we all can agree is an absolute “RC-esque” animal with his late race speed) for what seemed like an eternity, until just before they picked up the white flag when Blake finally passed him for 7th. Seems to me his fitness can’t be that far off.
