When is everyone going to sack up and recognise... Reed left Australia when he was 17, with his teen missus, and set out to be one of the best supercross racers in the world..

Think back to what u were doing at 17, probably chasing some tiprat women at the bar.. Reed knew what he was capable of at such a young age and went for it... not even he could have imagined he would come this far.... the guy is as legit as they come. He has lasted the ages int his sport and Australia wont have an export as successful as him in friggin million years, if ever.

Reed done what most dream of.. and has proven time and time again he adapts and gets faster, smarter, and more solid as the years pass.. i cant beleive people come on here this pathetic board and try and criticise the mans integrity. ya'll need your head checked.

Reed's only real problem was that he was an immature, cocky guy without an entourage that kept him from saying and doing things that were going to hurt him in the eyes of the public. He came to America thinking that his only job was winning races, but in fact his real job was representing sponsors and it took a few years for him to realize that. Most young guns have parents around who keep them on the straight and narrow and explain how life really works. Reed didn't have that and he suffered for it.

@WhKnuckle

Agree to disagree here, Reed wasnt accepted into american racng untill he proved himself in europe. i beleive the start of his career was more about himself and proving himself rather then about the sponsers, that showed through his selfish persona and 'cockyness'.. he got the job done, and that established him, sure it pissed off fans, but whats did he have to piss off? he was a nobody.. people recognised pretty quick for many of the reasons u list..

thats just my opinion

Reed is without question one of the top mx/sx riders of all time at this point, and I would put him behind MC in SX. Plus, he is the shit plain and simple. And the gear? Fuggettaboutit! He's even got me thinking about a Honda for the love of God! Quick, someone throw some water on my face....

I used to think Reed was a bit of a douche, he's definitely had a great attitude this year and made a new fan out of me. It's hard to dislike any of the top 5 this season. He's definitely cloesd the gap in speed between him and Stewart in the last 10 years.
x2.

He has made a fan out of me and I never really liked him before. Looks like starting his own team was the perfect situation for him and I'm glad it worked out so well. I hope he can put something good together for the outdoors, probably with Honda's help.

I thought it was really cool that Reed showed a lot of respect to Ryan after the race. I wonder if McGrath put his foot in his mouth for his comments at the beginning of the year?

I didnt care for Reed much until he started riding Suzuki's. His attitude changed around that time and it he always tells it how it is....Not only that after he "saved James life" this year, which IMO robbed him of the SX title he didnt even seem mad....

Ive eaten my crow a couple times on this already, but I was one of those people. Im happy to be so wrong about Chad. Its always nice to see a good guy finish well. I met Chad back at his first US Open, and he couldnt have been nicer. I always liked him as a person, I just didnt feel like he would be able to win considering how rough he looked last year, and considering that he had to throw his team together last minute. Chad proved again why he is one of the best to ever race.
I was one too. I picked him to round out the top 5 in points. Wrong! He really did an awesome job this year between the private team and his results.

On another note, look how he has gone from the consensus of being a dickhead to being respected and *gasp* well-liked. He has won over some people that really hated him. It shows that a guy can change fans' minds through actions and speech. Others might want to make a note of that.

We were in the press box last night and when Chad came across the finish line just about everybody in the place were clapping for him. Pretty damn cool.

A couple of years ago I had never talked to him and just thought what I saw in person or TV and wasn't much of a fan. But after we interviewed him for the Legends show at his place that sitting down with him for two hours really changed my opinion. Smart and humble. Very nice guy.

Reed is an awesome rider and very naturally talented. The record books don't lie and he has some of the best sx stats in history. Have tons of respect for the guy and have always liked him. Glad to see more people are coming around to him though.

I used to not like him I thought he was a bit too cocky at times throughout the years but this season he's really turned a 180 in my books, real laid back and raced super hard all year. Great season Chad!

If you don't like CR22 then you have the problem! The guy can ride a mx bike like few ever have. I hope he's a title contender outdoors this summer!

Last year's Vegas SX I became a huge fan. He just had his baby and was chasing RD who was on fire in 2010. I am a RC fan so I use to root against CR. Especially after his amazing 2003 season.

Professionalism brings respect. Chad just gets better at it every year. He's up there with Carmichael in my books for being a great ambassador of the sport. Now if everyone else could just join along. How hard is it to respectfully shake a dudes hand after a race?
