From what I can see Cole is the obvious choice for the MX2 ride but will Star Yamaha price out the lease of the bikes for the New Zealand team?
Depending who gets selected for other countries Star might be sending a few bikes. Hopefully if they are already sending a few bikes they can cut a deal with NZ.
On the US side they'll want Deegan and Australia will want Minear.
It would suck if they price it out of the reach of Australia and NZ
I doubt Nz will send a team this year , and coming up with funds star wants will always be an issue for a country our size ,
This was my concern.
Man I hope you’re wrong, but fear you’re right.
Your guys need to be there getting some experience, because the future looks promising.
Regardless though, it’s a gut punch not to be able to send a team, no matter what their chances.

Speaking of him, if he wins the outdoor title this year. will he move up to 450s already next year for the outdoor season u reckon? Or too early?
My opinion- if Davies wins the MX title this year, he should go 450 after 250 SX next year.
Another season in 250s would be a waste. But teams, sponsors and others, who probably know better, will likely think differently.
In a way I agree with you and for sure see where you’re coming from, but also he missed nearly the entire outdoor season last year.
If he moved up next year he will have only ever done like 13 outdoor races in the US. Kind of crazy he’s this dominant in what his 9th outdoor? Kid is a beast I love it
If he wins the championship he gets to keep his bike. So he should just tell star to put it straight in a crate & send er to France
I doubt Star would make one of their top guys lease out a bike for MXDN.
They do, pretty sure they wanted something like $20k to lease the bike to Team GB for Anstie to ride.
It was more than that...and it's not just the bike as they also have to send team personal to support the rider. The number is closer to 50-60K
Stays on a 250 until he’s done with 250SX/SX2.
The lad is impressive that is for sure from technique, race craft, and poise. Fun to watch
So why haven't they gone overseas yet?
Star made up 2/3 of our team at the last overseas MXdN in '24. They have sent AMart, JMart, Webb, Cooper and Tomac overseas.
They went 2 years ago with Webb at Matterly.
??? Pretty sure that they have multiple times over the years....not sure what you are referring to....
It’s not the bike itself that costs , it’s the motor guy, the suspension guy, the mechanic and the data / mapping guy ,!also the testing to get it to run on euro sound and fuel ,
Pit Row
Start selling some t shirts….
I have a novel idea....how about the powers that be at Infront give the teams some money to curb the costs of the logistics that are becoming more expensive and more of burden on teams....They do it for the overseas MXGP races...it would be a massive help to non-Euro based teams and countries...
Anstie wasn’t one of Stars top guys (Deegz and Davies). Do you think Star would’ve made Tomac lease a bike for nations? I don’t. Do you think Star would’ve made make Deegz lease a bike for nations? I don’t. That’s my point. Did Star make Webb lease a 250 when he went 2 years ago, or did they make JCoop lease a 250 when he went last year? I don’t think they did.
Levi townley mx2? Then Cole could race mx1 or 3.
That's because team USA covers a large portion of the costs....has nothing to do with being a "top" guy on the team has more to do with Team GB not willing to share in the costs....I't's not fair for teams that are not based in Europe to not get anything from the promoter to help curb those costs...for most Euro based teams the cost and distance for them is like going from SoCal to Hangtown for a National....
"Team managers dont want you to know this one life hack"
Star will only pay the costs that their rider is contracted to race. MXoN’s isn’t a contracted race so Star wants the country’s federation to cover the wear & tear on the bike, the mechanics wages, getting the bike to the venue. Star Racing are not willing to cover that cost but the federation’s can lease them if they’ve got deep enough pockets.
If the 2027 YZ250F is 'all new' and the SMX series is over before the MXdN, would that affect the amount they would charge for a 'lease'? I could see it being high if the bike wasn't fundamentally changing for the next year, but if it is wouldn't the team riders be riding the '27s ASAP after the SMX series anyway?
