TRUMPS VP?

Eugene V. Debs ran for President from prison in 1920, nothing stopping Trump doing the same, but he wouldn't be able to vote.

Can't imagine any self respecting person wanting that job. Unless you really like the smell of Donald poo on the end of your nose. That's the only chance you would have of staying in the job. He'll turn on anybody who dares to think out loud. Except he did keep his kids around. You know, the personal advisors with the least amount of knowledge and experience and the most to gain when he goes in the ground.

For those of you with no sense of humor, I feel sorry for you. This is a thread with options like Ice Cube, do you really think anything is serious?

Also, while it's believed that's a requirement, the constitution is silent on that. And if you believe that being in succession to the president requires that, you'd also have to make that argument for the speaker of the house then as they are next in line, again silent on that. So while it's believed, it's never been tested in court. One could serve as the vice president with the understanding that they'd just be passed over. It'd be a risky move but it's never been challenged.

Here is the text of section one, article two of the Constitution:

No Person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President; neither shall any Person be eligible to that Office who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty-five Years, and been fourteen Years a Resident within the United States.

Now, obviously there would be all kinds of legal wrangling by very powerful entities, but I read that as saying, "You must have been born here or must have attained citizenship before the Constitution was written to be eligible for the office of President. You are not eligible even if you are naturalized after the Constitution was written." Since the rule doesn't mention being elected to office but rather eligible for it at all, I take that to also mean that you cannot be promoted to President via succession from the lower offices, either.
I understand there may be some exceptions for persons who were born elsewhere but meet the requirements of birthright citizenship (such as when your parents are US citizens, but on vacation overseas when you are born.)

And? I'm missing the part of VP requirement. Yes we all think the VP has the position to automatically step in as President. But the VP does a lot more. So with the understanding the VP gets passed over to Speaker should the need arise, I'm not seeing where it says requirements for VP. And yes most people believe it a requirement but as it stands, it's not until the court says so.

The 12th Amendment is pretty clear on the topic:

”But no person constitutionally ineligible to the office of President shall be eligible to that of Vice-President of the United States.”

Again, it'll have to be decided by the courts. One can argue that is in the context of the senate picking the vise president. Wink

Why would that have to be decided by the courts?  The method of picking the vice president has been changed through constitutional amendments, but this portion of the 12th amendment has not been superseded by any later amendments. It’s pretty clear to anyone who has actually studied the constitution for an afternoon that the VP candidate must have the same basic requirements for office as Presidential candidate.

'In Wisconsin, $5.6 billion in funding has been announced, with over 327 specific infrastructure projects identified for funding.

Of that amount, approximately $3.8 billion has been announced to invest in roads, bridges, public transit, ports, and airports. Another $369 million has been announced for clean water and water infrastructure.

Additionally, the state has received $1.1 billion to connect residents to reliable high-speed internet. Let me know when "PRICES" come down. The fact that the prices are rising slower than they did last year means they are still rising. But you go ahead and take that as a "win". We still can't get groceries for less the $400-$500 per week. And another $200+ dollars per week to fill both cars. How about we talk when actual prices come down, and I'm not talking about that gas prices are only $5 now when they used to be $6. I'm talking about when they get back to around $3, where they could/should be. And a realistic budget for groceries. But lets get excited because the prices are rising "slower" than last year. SMH

For the life of me I can't figure out what is otherwise a fun/funny thread that you have to create conflict? Your constant little digs of "you'd have to be smart enough to know", do you have self worth issues? And you're almost always wrong on things, but even a blind squirrel finds an acorn. Since you think you know the constitution so well, please show us all where the constitution specifically defines the right to an abortion that was the law of the land for many years due to an interpretation of the court. IMO, Donalds is a guy  who , in the event , would be a steadying influence, its almost better that he isnt 'presidential' at this point.

Ramaswamy seems to be wired up right too, i could see him doing it , and being good, but that never seems to be the way it works.

If the GOP had their shit together , we should have had a second DT term, 2 terms with Desantis, and by then, all the fucking swamp should have been drained.

If that doesnt happen, buy ammo.
