Serious question, what actual rule is he referring to?
Because the only congressional rules tied to dueling were about disciplining members for it, not allowing it.
Is there even a single modern law or rule that says two people can legally duel?
Shouldn’t someone aspiring to a position like this have at least an inkling of the law instead of just parroting a myth that he’s heard somewhere?

One of the things that Mullin mentioned was that he didn’t like Paul because he didn’t simply acquiesce to the rest of the Republican party. I don’t think that he realized how big of a compliment he was paying Paul.

Paul and Mullin have some long standing issues. Paul called Mullin a liar, Mullin said that sometimes people need to have thier ass kicked. It's a bitchfest.

Little deeper than that. Paul actually got beat up pretty good by a neighbor a few years ago and Mullin more or less endorsed it in his usual tough guy fashion.

I dont know about duel, but mutual combat law exists. Consenting adults can legally engage in unarmed combat.

'Mutual combat’ isn’t some legal loophole, it just means both guys might get charged instead of one.
Some states recognize mutual combat as a mitigating factor, not a permission slip. You can still be arrested and charged. Serious harm is illegal everywhere. Only regulated combat sports are truly legal fights. If 'mutual combat' were actually legal, you wouldn’t need athletic commissions to sanction boxing matches.
I can ask around, but as far as I know... unless one guy is boot fucking the other, responding officers aren't really worried about it as far as arrests and charges.

Yeah, while there’s virtually no laws making it legal, whether or not an individual LEO exercises discretion on citing the combatants probably varies quite a bit!
But back to the original point of the thread, it shouldn’t seem a stretch that a person who believes that dueling between House members is still legal probably isn’t the greatest candidate for a position that has a lot of questions to answer about use of force.

Once again your saying things that aren’t based in fact violent crime is at a 20 year low at the end of Bidens term. Inflation was lower when Biden term ended than it is today under Trump.
There was a spike in both around 2020 because of Covid. No other country was able to get inflation down and grown the economy anywhere close to what Biden did.
