NOT LOOKING FOR A OIL DEBATE DONT CARE ABOUT ANY OF THAT I have ran this stuff for years and have been satisfied


So it seems as if rotella is next to impossible to find. Heard some diesel buddies talk about them not being able to get it so I figured I better go buy some for oil changes this summer and sure enough shelves empty of t4 t6 and etc and no stores seem to have it instock. So what else are people using that’s equivalent to rotella but in the same price range ? I was buying a gallon of t4 for 15$ otd.

Its hard to find here in Virginia also. I use it in everything I own so I don't know what I'm going to use now either.

That’s the boat I’m in. I use it in everything but street vehicles. I didn’t even know it was getting thin. Or I would have bought a bucket of it surly someone knows of a oil that’s in the same ballpark ain’t no way in paying 10$ a quart for some oil that is labeled for a motorcycle

Rotella T is a truck oil if your happy with it and can’t find it. Just buy this from the pilot- flying j. 18.96 some places r 19.86 other trk oil r ovr 30.00 a gal. I used rotella t 1 day it made the trans shifting notchy.

Walmart whatever stuff comes in the super tech diesel bottle.

I’ve never used it but I’m sure they have a rotella equivalent which is kind of shit too but I know many people use it.

Although it may be on par but I’m not sure. I’m more looking for the same raitings as rotella. I also don’t have a pilot within 100 miles of me

Valvoline makes a good diesel 15w-40. Something blue? I’ll see if I can find it. I’ve run it in gas and diesel trucks successfully. Never a bike yet but I don’t see why not.

I can get some more info, but my brother in law owns a car craft parts store and last time i bought Rotella from him he told me i better get extra because they we going to stop making that particular line of oil......

There are lots of detergents in these diesel oils that aren’t great on your clutch and motor. Rotella was much better years ago before they changed formulas.

Walmart has Valvoline 10w-40 for ATV/motorcycle for $4.50/quart. Synthetic for ~$8. I think the Honda GN4 is ~$6/quart and it lasts longer before shifting and clutch action start feeling funny than Rotella. I have not tried the Valvoline, but I bet it works better than Rotella too.

Get this from fleet farm if you can’t find it at ff you don’t need it. Some stores hv all kinds of farm equipment, bigger than a super Walmart.

The main thing about Rotella T4 was that it had the JASO-MA2 rating as suggested for wet clutches in the manual. I haven't saw that on any other diesel formula when looking as well since I've had no issues with Rotella since I can't find it locally as well.

This ^^^^. Rotella T4 is scarce in my area too but I have found some. It isn't $15/gal either, more like $20.

Been impossible to find here in Central Oregon. Bought Delo last, will switch back to rotella soon as I can find it. I have noticed when I do find it that it’s normally T4 and not the T6 synthetic.

Mobil Delvac is a good oil. I've used Rotella without any problems in the past. I currently use Maxima and have a little deal with them. I think there are many good oils out there and as long as you use the ones that don't have the friction modifiers (it will say gas saving on the bottle usually) and change it often, you will be fine.

I used to run Delo until the CK-4 update. They backed off zinc and phosphorus numbers dramatically. Also added a little molybdenum if I recall.

Rotella, on the other hand, kept their zinc and phosphorus at roughly 1200ppm, which is where heavy duty diesel oils have been for quite some time. I know some didn’t like the new CK-4 Rotella, but I’ve had really good luck with it. Seems to be an upgrade over CJ-4 in almost every way.

Edit with a little more info: Delo and Delvac are both around 800ppm zinc and phosphorus for CK-4, while Rotella and Valvoline stayed at 1200ppm.

All this info is for the 15w-40 conventional diesel oils.

Amsoil has several that are actually an upgrade guys. I'm a dealer and been getting tons of business off of Rotella being empty. Lots of feedback that they aren't going back because their trucks get better mileage with Amsoil. Anybody can hit me up be glad to set you up with a discount and it just drop ships to your door.
