I think this is how the start will go:

and this is a normal lap:

That is a lot more different paths through the track than we normally see. They'll also be riding the first rhythm section backwards compared to the normal direction.

The Santa Clara race looks like it was also have an interesting start.

After they go under the over/under after the start I'm sure they'll take a right and the track will be back to normal.

I thought that too, but the OP's version would explain the no tough blocks after the over under and why there's that bit of track near the finish line.. dunno if I'm into it

That would have them head back down the first rhythm section way too soon after the start. It would be pretty dangerous. If you look closely, you can see the lines on the track turn left after the over/under.

Yeah that's a good point. I didn't notice that bit of track down near the finish line.

Feint, you are correct.

Originally the start was a right hand out of the tunnel. Then changed to a left as shown.

They are not racing through the tunnel...just over it. It's only for track equipment access.

Maybe they can make an immediate left right after the gate onto that first rhythm section.

The "under" part of the over/under will only be used on the starts for Houston.

I think the most interesting part of both Houston and Santa Clara is that somehow they have to be able to practice one of the rythym sections in both directions.

That will be interesting to see them try to squeeze into the tunnel while they are all bunched up.

Single file pleeeze!

this can be a huge mess, just think about it what if there is a pile up in the left hander out the tunnel on the start and the first riders r coming already back towards them what r they gonna do red flag the shit for a restart ?

Did they not think about that when they designed the track this thing can go bad in a hurry i would of thought they went right after the tunnel but then they will again be in opposite directions so that does not work either.

if there is a crash its red flagged even before they r 1 lap around

the first rider needs around 20 second to be back at the tunnel where lines cross each other, the last rider in the start usually is already 10 sec behind after 2 corners without a crash if someone gets shuffled of the track in the first corner its over and done for him because at the time he ends up at the tunnel he will need to wait for the first riders to go true he can then continue when the 21st rider is passed when he is able to continue and come around the first time he is already a lap behind because the first rider is already back at the section where the toyota truck is standing on the picture

I call for a all or nothing start and someone of the top riders ending up way way way behind after 1 lap

This is obviously a mistake. There's no way to make sense of that labyrinth of a track. If they try to implement this they will have guys going every which way. I am thinking the finish line is labeled backwards.

two direction rhythm lane?
Imagine a big first turn pile up. Guys late getting going then headed down a rhythm lane with bikes coming towards them. Nope. Or a demolition derby meeting at the tunnel exit. Nope.

If this is all true, I bet a "decision" will be made to change the track. . .

I think what will happen is after the first rythm section turn left through the tunnel, then a hard left through the finish line, then whoops, then rythm, then onto the start straight, then rythm then hard left into the section they haven't gone on yet.

Nailed it! I think it makes sense of you go through it with the finish line in the opposite direction.

somthing like this could work
how could that work? they would have to jump the finish backwards, then do half the track backwards. the 2nd pic at the top is how it will go...
1/30/2015 2:19pm
this obviously would only work when they turn the finish line jump around

I don't know anymore this shit is confusing
