Not great, but looks like it could have been a lot worse.

Is he all good? Watching on my phone quickly halfway through a job, can't even see who it is.

Did the metal ramp have anything to do with it? We’ll never know. I think next year if they put like a 2foot deep water hole between the two jumps that would be killer.

Why on earth are they using a man-made structure for the landing (or the take off, for that matter)? I understand an over-under structure and its utility, but that landing structure accomplishes nothing a dirt mound couldn't accomplish.

Glad the dude wasn't seriously injured. I must say the dude hanging on for his life made me chuckle.

The metal ramps not being rollable, what if he was laying on top of the landing? In a red cross flag situation, what should riders do (they cant roll it)? Would they red flag the race in that case? Is it worth the risk using metal jumps for the finish?

My guess is to save 10 truckloads of dirt? I see no other plausible benefit. We learned at Strsight Rhythm that the metal Ramps get very slick when wet. another negative possibility to their use.

Can anyone please tell just how exactly the outcome of this would have been any different if the up and down ramps were 100% dirt?

A few ppl have it set in their minds they cannot roll the ramp. They can roll it.
The reason for the structure landing. Is the stadium floor isn't on the ground. There is a basement under the whole floor.
The large dirt mound exceeds the maximum weight allowed in 1 spot.

They don't look rollable on TV but they are, On the sighting lap they were rolling them.

Agreed. I wouldn’t want to “roll” it on my YZ’s stock suspension, that’s for sure, lol.

There is a FMX show or two during the event that needs the ramp. If you are worried about it, watch the race. The only objections to the ramp come from keyboarders - not riders.

Personally, I do not care for FMX being part of a SX event. In the AUS-X events, there was a $25,000 prize for best trick. I feel the racers deserve that more than the FMX guys.

This event yesterday was pretty damn good. I was enjoying watching the riders who don't top the boards in the US series. I am biased, those riders came to my country to race. They are so welcome here. They will be welcome in other countries too. Imagine how the sport will grow when SX races go all over the world as WSX grows. When it is global, the riders will be well rewarded for their skills, even the guys that just occasionally make the US top ten. A 10 - 20 guy will be making more money by taking his skills across a pond or two.

I know Eli wasn't there. Nor Chase, Jett, Justin or Jason. If that invalidates WSX for you . . . Sorry. Your loss. This pilot series is just the start. Two countries this time, next year eight or ten. More will come and it will be better.

Guaranteed.

Here’s a screen shot of your guy “rolling it”. Notice all wheels off the ground and yes he landed on a flat. Unless you change the definition of rolling something to not doubling it, then it’s a challenging prospect to roll this as you would roll a jump with a less severe backside.

I thought the whole “is it a quad” argument was bad enough, but Jesus Christ dude.

What about Bob Hannah to silence the critics who said is factory Yamaha was the reason he was winning, responded with buying a stock bike at a dealer and won SX with it? If it hasn't already been done, love to see an article on that race.

They don't make 'em like they used to.

Hi Mate

The FMX ramp was off to the side and wasn't the one used for racing. Its slightly steeper and has a different lip.

I also agree with everything else you said, the event was great and yeah, the heavy hitters weren't there but we also got to see riders from all over the world who Id never get to see ride and some of them are fast!!
Also, how was the crowd when Tanti won the second race!!!!!

Next year will be bigger and better and Ill be there!
