Looked like lots of empty seats in Glendale and A2. How'd it look in person? Seems like attendance is down...

Disagree. I was at both and thought they were well attended.
But A2 was a little down from A1, yes.

Triple format is stupid and I wouldn't pay to go watch it and for that fact I didn't even watch it on TV or gold.

Glendale had a good crowd but the stadium is so big it was not packed at all. I'm thinking maybe 40K people.

I'm sure it's just the camera angle sometimes...

Feld was advertising A2 last week, so there were unsold seats.

Here’s Glendale at opening ceremonies, I’d guess it was at 70% capacity.

Glendale seats 63,000 fans for football. The capacity can be expanded to 72,800 for other events at the stadium including the Super Bowl.

70% = 44,000 = 19,000 empty seats

60% = 37,800 = 25,200 empty seats

So yes there is room to improve , $20-$30 parking sucks $4 bottle water is pricey too.

A2 crowd was good. Watching triple crown in person is great. Need more.

Wow you sound like a pretty hardcore fan of the sport. Refusing to watch because you'd prefer heats & LCQs with a 15/20min main event, instead of watching 30/36mins of main events that all actually count for something.

I imagine your letter to Feld summarizing your opinion looks something like this

Do they ever announce attendances any more? When I look at old Cycle News articles they would mention the attendance at SX races.

I'm not seeing attendance figures in any of the releases these days.

A1? I saw some empty seats, but considering the weather, that wasn't shocking.

Glendale? Big place. Was it full? No, but I'd say it was a decent crowd.

A2? Decent, but certainly not packed.

What has been packed? Kenny's autograph line.

They will never admit it. I think racing is in trouble.

You saw 66 minutes plus 6 laps of racing in 30 minutes?! Huh

I think I found your problem!

I was thinking the same thing. 250's were 10min +1lap. About 11 minutes each. hmmm...

Not to mention "I didn't even watch it on TV or gold." followed up with "I watched it on tv".

The jokes write themselves.

I was at A2 and we thought there was a good sized crowd. We were in section 208 so we couldn’t see the upper decks because of the over hang but the lower sections were pretty full.

We enjoyed the racing. I would not want to see a full season of the triple crown races but we enjoyed the night. Once the night show started it went by quick and there was a lot of racing to be seen. Had a good time. Watched the replay on the gold app the next morning.

Maybe if they had a greater tier pricing for the Nose-Bleed seats they might fill a few more spots - $20-25 upper upper deck nose bleed????

I was at A2 for the first time and I thought the crowd seemed pretty good. I don't know what it is normally like at round 2, though. Here's a photo I took that gives a good look at the crowd, even though this was in between races. And I just noticed there's a dude flipping me off on the right hand side! Laughing

The Dallas Mavericks currently have the longest active sell-out streak with over 750 games but over the past couple years I’ve been to a few games where the place was only half full. Fluffing the attendance numbers isn’t exclusive to motocross/Supercross.

I thought the same thing too. I would have guessed ~40-45K at Glendale, but the announced attendance was just over 50K which is pretty normal for Glendale. As you said, that stadium is really big. It holds 63,400 + 8,800 for the south bleachers/chairs (not set up during SX, so I don't count them).

Attendance has been down at SX events since 2009' look at some of the earlier pictures of the stadiums from the time JS7 RC KW CR and even when RV was starting to dominate! That's probably also one of the contributing factors ticket prices have gone up..
