So last night Dungey was leading the race and Tomac passed him for the win. I cannot remember the last time that has happened. Maybe Poto in the last turn at Steel City a few years back?

If I was Dungey, I would have let Tomac go too. He had a faster pace all night, Trey is out, Ryan has a huge points lead, why mix it up with someone who is 3 full races out of the points lead.

Tomac passed Dungey by parking him. That's a far cry from being faster than another rider & overtaking him. But, a win is a win no matter what.

I agree that Ryan played it smart to let Tomac have a win & settling for 2nd.

Lol...What really happened is a lapped rider passed Dungey and won the Main Event.

Tomac was just faster last night. When Tomac is on like that there may be no one short of RV or Stewart with as much raw speed.

This. There are times while watching Tomac ride that my jaw is hanging from my head. His speed and aggression is sometimes unparalleled. If he can get to the point when he brings his A game every weekend then he'll be the new RV. I think he's just figuring it out. But Dungey let him go a bit, and there's no doubt that Dungey was playing it safe. His points lead is huge. No need to push himself to beat Tomac, who's feeling like his back is against the wall with pressure to win a few races.

Tomac was on, but Dungey showed he had a pretty good pace too, 5 had no reason to push to win this one. Good ride by both,

Ok, I'll give you that...but RV & Stewart normally passed riders they had so much "raw speed" than cleaner & with that speed carrying them. If ET was so much faster, he wouldn't have had to run up on Dungey like that. Just saying.

Wouldn't be surprised to see Tomac go on a bit of a run with the pack being so thin these days. There's 6 or 7 guys making the mains that had no chance at A1. After Carnard gets passed by Tomac in points at the next round, Dungey will most likely still have a 70+ point lead on second place Tomac. Pretty much on cruise control for the last 5 rounds and it's pay day for Dungey!

It's supercross. It was a block pass. Pretty much how everybody passes in supercross unless somebody makes a mistake. A pass is a pass.

Dungey will stay out of harms way and podium out. Put a fork in this one.

He ain't stupid. He has made it all these years without major injury by being smart enough not to push it beyond what he can safely manage.

I didn't see it that way, I saw that after TC41 went down, RD knew the only way he can lose the championship is by getting hurt. IMO RD stepped it down a couple notches last night so he can be sure to win the title.

I'm sure he backed it down a little but I don't think he could have beaten Tomac last night regardless. Maybe he keeps it within 5 seconds instead of 12 if he wasn't championship protection mode.

Which is fine. Every top guy this year has had an untouchable night.

True. Regardless Dungey has put himself in the position to be able to relax a little and it's not by accident. If it sounded like I was trying to discredit Dungey in any way it wasn't my intention.

I saw a man with his eye on winning the war and not worrying about one small battle.

Dungey has almost 9 years as a pro and has missed 7 races. Dungey's doing fine.

Not possible...He rides a KTM and they don't allow for passing.

I agree to a point. He was going to pass him anyway. But. That pass is what you show your son when you are teaching him how to pass. Text Book. They should put that pass in an online dictionary to describe perfection.

He didn't park him at all. He just took the racing line away from him.

I saw Tomac reel in Dungey from a 3rd or 4th place start, hound him for a lap or two, and then make a clean aggressive pass, and pull away.

Really not sure what the issue is, Dungey is in great shape in points and Tomac finally rode to his potential.
