There isn't a realistic option for him to leave Canada. Many Canadian greats have tried to make a run at the US with mixed results and not one of them stayed long. His best bet would be a high profile privateer team for a short term stay, which is likely not going to pay as good as what he's making in Canada. Right now GDR has given him comfortable contracts and his winter training visits at the Lawrence's compound is paid in full. He has a good life and makes good money here.
