Just watched Transworld press day from Daytona. I noticed what appeared to be Axel Hodges riding the track with the other pros. Does Hodges hold an AMA pro license? Do other industry people ride press day? Found it kind of odd but…considering what it is maybe it’s normal.
Can industry people ride SX press day?

OK, that was some funny shit right there.
Reminds me, wasn't there a TV journo back when that made some crack like "it looks easy" so they put him on a bike on the track (no one else on the track) and he flailed to a halt after half a lap or something?
Those of us who have raced an amateur day on a VERY dumbed-down version of the racetrack know that it would be a bad idea to let amateurs out on the full SX track. I'd say B class at Loretta's or faster just to be able to ride laps.
Throw the GoPro on BigLew!!!!
there are rumblings that he will be filling in for chase
At least the starts will be better!! 😁😁🤣🤣🤣
Put Mike Pelletier out there, see what he thinks. Red or yellow bike, color makes no difference to him 🤔
He's color blind apparently
I rode at a press junket for Monster Energy Cup one year. They had KX250Fs for everyone to ride and we were told to only ride on the start straight. I was really the only one in the junket who knew how to ride and was kind of flat tracking around a bit and hitting a little berm, but either there was bad gas or the bike was brand spanking new because it would bog a quite a bit up top.
Anyways, RC was there and could tell I knew how to ride and told me I should go for a lap (Yes, I was stoked that he recognized any skill in me!). I did want to, but also didn't want to get in trouble with Feld and didn't want the bike to bog on the face of a jump or something and eat it, so I opted not to.
Of course hindsight being 20/20, I wish I would've done the lap. I've done a bunch of track walks but have never actually ridden a stadium track. Would've be educational to say the least.
But, I don't think that's an experience they offer very often.

Bingo.
His dad works for Monster. He keeps his two son's with a paycheck.
Otherwise you would never have heard of either of them.
The real classic was Dan Cortese on an MX track!
I am almost positive his dad does not work for Monster.
Not on the track at speed with the Pros but local TV often tosses one of the broadcasters on a bike to show how difficult it really is .
I Wonder if any broadcasters doing that have been injured?
Pit Row
They need to bring this back
That was legendary! I still got all pf MTV Sports episodes in VHS somewhere. The this one with Team Yamaha was the best 👌
I standvto be corrected but PH works for Axel and assist Axel wherever he can, media stuff, maintenance at Slayground and everything else.
You probly know more than I do.
Found it. If I remember correctly the damage was pretty serious with ruptured spleen, broken ribs and collarbone.
His brother is "Dirt Shark"
Bingo
His dad doesn’t work for Monster.
Imagine thinking that Axell Hodges only made it to where he is because of nepotism.
Right ? Some of these young kids have an advantage of having connections or wealthy families, but they still have to perform. Plenty of them try and can only get so far with their talent.
Axel is definitely special and in my opinion is one of the most talented dudes on a dirt bike. It’s wild how far the level has progressed.
Yeah dude for surrreeeee no talent just rich parents. If you had money you could do everything he could right?
Lewis Phillips just took his kidney belt off
His brother does. You may have heard of him...Dirt Shark!
And yeah the Monster connection definitely helped a lot for exposure, but you can't by or even attempt to create talent like that. Axell is phenomenal on a motorcycle.
RIP to the Biff. Awesome guy gone way too soon.
