I put this picture up on an earlier 'ET Clutch' thread, of a set up done for Joel Smets, (more than) 2 decades ago when he went from Husaberg to KTM : A few European companies offered such a thing (much 'nicer' than this unit) for KTMs, for a while. I'm unsure if such things can still be purchased, but, you can bet your arse, if ET ends up with a cable set up, a whole lot of suppliers will jump in to sell to those that want to jump on board with a 'new', old thing. It's not Rocket...

The thing with hydraulic clutches is that if you’re a clutch abuser, (enter Eli), it doesn’t give you the same warning that it’s on the way out, or adjustability to respond, that a cable clutch does. That’s why this is a subject of discussion.

They gave Dungey a hand shifter so I am sure they can give Tomac a cable clutch.

What’s the chances tomac gets a factory cable clutch for his KTM in 2026? If sexton can get KYB’s, and In 2003 MXGP’s, smets ran a factory cable clutch on his 450 and 550. So it wouldn’t be the first time and I don’t think it would breach any US production rules.

No issues for eating piston rings with KTM's. I have have ridden 125SX/150SX since 2005 and with dual ring piston I can ride about 30hours before the the piston and rings needs to be replaced. Much better than the Honda's port bridge design which requires lubrication holes drilled to the piston and still with those Nicasil plating is wearing out pretty fast on the exhaust bridge (and yes I have been ridden Honda's too) . The bronze is tougher than aluminum and dissipates heat better so you can have more ignition advance on the verge of detonation to have more...

I’m not 100% sure on the reasoning but I think it’s that bronze conducts heat better than aluminum, reducing detonation hot spots. And also it’s easily replaced instead of having to scrap or rework the cylinder. Also the same reason for 12° piston crowns and inserts. Again to reduce temp and the edge of the piston and stop det.

It’s based on a stock casting. 95% of it is the same as a stock set, as almost any part can bolt onto it. The reed block flange is completely different and the intake would have much more material left for porting. Some of the threads are M6 instead of M5 also

Also started pulling down my works GP 125 engine. Some parts are surprisingly stock or stock modified and others are super cool. Sand cast cases with some beautiful port work. “GP 03 05” engraved on the left case which means GP 2003 engine #5. 12° Vertex piston. It also runs a 95-04 YZ125 V Force reed block under a billet...

Decided to make my own skid plate based on photos I had. Fabed up a sheet of 1.6mm aluminium for the internal profile. I’ve sent that off to a friend who will make a mould from that and be able to produce some carbon skids. I also welded on mounting tabs to the frame the same style as the factory...

Took a 22 hour road trip to Pennsylvania and picked up a old FBF husky cr125. The wheels have Fred Hoess name on them which I found out Fred was a factory husky rider and won 19 isde gold medals and rode the ex FBF mx sx team bikes in the 03-04 national enduro championship. Bike still had the works suspension, stamped motor, pc ti pegs and bunch of ti . Plan clean it up and put 01 FBF team graphics on it.
