As a generality, yes. People are getting softer. Pro athletes are getting softer. Pro MX/SX guys are still pretty much bad-asses far above the mainstream.

Happy it was his left, maybe he can still do some fun stuff in his car on the weekends and keep the racing spirit alive in himself. This, the people here complaining about Herlings stats should look into Everts his also, he has at one point won 3 GP's in 1 day by riding all classes when they had single moto format, he also raced almost that full season in 2 classes atleast because riders disliked the single moto format back then. In the end they are all Legends and to achiev statistics like this you have to remain at a very elite level that doesn't happen very often, so all we can do is respect it and enjoy it while it happens.

Exactly, Tumic. I'm not into the debate over which races count and which don't. We still count RC and Stewart's 125 wins when looking at their career totals. At the end of the day, Herlings has won 102 GP's and that in and of itself is nothing less than amazing and he should be commended for it.

Shaun Palmer, in his comeback to go to the Olympics for snowboarder cross, tore his achilles-this was after his mountain bike era, moto era, and kinda of his last dream. Ridiculous take. Nobody would say this if Tomac was injured at round 3. Sexton had the speed all year and stayed close even with the mistakes. Very different than guys that were slower all year and then stumbled into the title.
