The teams are doing a great job protecting their riders and steering them towards healthier and more sustainable mindsets. But is there a chance riders are becoming more soft? Pulling off after a niggle? Knowing they will be well taken care off and won’t get roused at?
No.
With Kenny you never know but no they aren't getting softer it's the same.
Look at Herlings getting landed on, look at Webb I know I'm missing more.
Western culture is becoming weaker (or softer). Huge societal shifts that used to take one hundred years or more are now occurring in the space of 7-10 years.
Whether that affects riders (or teams) or not, remains to be seen.
Stay sharp, be true, and have fun.
Why don’t you just say straight out what you mean?

The norming of male sportsmen publicly sobbing is unedifying.
you remember feelings, right?
Criticising a man for showing emotion or being what you deem ‘soft’, says more about you than it does about them.
They are still tough guys, but people in general and pro athletes are less tough then they use to be.
On today’s episode of insecure vital members
As a generality, yes. People are getting softer. Pro athletes are getting softer. Pro MX/SX guys are still pretty much bad-asses far above the mainstream.
Had to google niggle. I’ll be adding that to the vernacular.
Your first sentence answers your second.
No riders are getting a bit hurt, not getting soft….
Yalls insecurities are just hanging out in the open right now.
NHL players too. Last month a guy on the Winnipeg Jets took a skate to the face. Went to the locker room for 75 stitches then finished the game!
Not knowing specifically what situation you’re speaking of, we have a lot more information about CTE, so that has to weigh on riders when they sustain a concussion. What are the consequences 20 or 30 years down the road? To say nothing of the physical pounding that comes from the practice, training and racing itself. The riders have to weigh the cost themselves.
I do believe that western society overall is different, probably softer is the best term. Many of us haven’t been tempered by hardship. Case in point, when kids are doing end of year testing in public schools, the halls are off-limits, and they don’t even cut the grass outside for fear of distracting the students. The same kids will study with music or the tv on, then when they do poorly on the tests, the parents will blame the school for not providing an atmosphere conducive to test taking. So I guess softer is the best word.
Soft like how you tiptoed this post? No, they aren't.
I don’t think Ken is being soft. I mean you saw his injury in 17 yea? Kens never had a knee injury..I’m assuming he thought he did some major damage to his knee to pull off. I mean 3rd in the points was up for grabs…aka more $$$$
Pit Row
I don't know, are they?
Your whole second paragraph is an oddly-specific hypothetical that you’re presenting as fact to generalize the entire current generation as soft, lol
Covid was a perfect example. Your spot on.
There's a pill for that problem. little, blue...
You’re…
Now I’ve confused myself. Is that a sign of softness? Crap! This didn’t go as planned.
I don't know. MXers, even as kids, break body parts, then return to the sport. That's pretty freaking tough if you ask me.
No, I don't think so...but there's little doubt that message board posters are getting more critical, without all that pesky critical thinking before hitting the submit button
