mxgreg85 Added a reply to 2016 KTM 350 for Vet racing?

1/14/2016 4:32pm
I've yet to ride a 350 and am intrigued by the concept. My main question is: does giving up 100cc of cylinder volume really make it feel that much more light/flickable/manageable than a 450? Its still a big 4 stroke, not going to feel like a 125. I have a hard time coming to terms with the idea of going...

mxgreg85 Added a reply to Severe Armpump

12/28/2015 4:23am
I can get it pretty bad, but mine is usually due to not riding enough. Some things that have helped me: -Be properly hydrated. The more the better. -Experiment with different grips. Smaller diameter seems to take less effort for me to grip, I'd find that some of the larger diameter ones would make me pump up quicker. Currently using...

As stated above, make sure your oil is wet clutch safe and cable properly adjusted. Are you installing new springs and torquing them to spec? Too weak springs would cause this problem if your motor is heavily modded or you tend to slip the clutch. Are you coating the fibers in oil and installing the pack fiber first, then alternating...

mxgreg85 Added a reply to 2016 Kawasakis

7/22/2015 6:14pm
Anyone putting a lot of hours on these latest generation kawis have feedback on motor durability or lack thereof? I was a green guy back in the 125/250f days but walked away after untimely crank failures on both, interested to hear the good and bad from guys with a lot of hours on 14s/15s.

mxgreg85 Added a reply to Washougal or Unadilla?

6/21/2015 8:14am
The scene at Dilla has cleaned up as of the past few years. The amateur pits at night can get a little "fun" but if you're just going for the day of the national you should have a great time. The Adirondack Park should be visited by everyone at least once in their life, sounds like it would be right...

mxgreg85 Added a reply to Class advancement advice

1/5/2015 2:59pm
I'd caution against it, until you're forced to advance or absolutely destroying the C competition. Its a big jump in speed and a learning curve for sure. Getting C podiums amongst a gate of 7-14 is likely going to have you in the back of B and frustrated. If you haven't placed first yet, chase that goal. Reach it, then...

mxgreg85 Added a reply to RM85 - spanner wrench - raising forks

9/6/2014 3:34pm
1. Just use channel lock pliers opened enough to grab at least 2 of the tongs on the preload adjust nut, you don't need a special tool. Go slowly and carefully, don't force it, should spin on the shock fine. 2. The way those forks are installed will negatively affect handling at speed. Lower them to so that the line...

mxgreg85 Added a reply to HELP PLEASE!!! Brake problems

6/20/2014 5:51pm
Make sure you are not over-filling the reservoir. When it gets hot and pressure builds, the fluid is going to move to where it can, possibly causing your brake to engage without the lever. Be able to see a decent amount of air in the sight glass. When you have it apart, make sure the pads are sliding freely in...

mxgreg85 Started a new thread Good liquid for coolant system testing?

4/22/2014 6:20pm
I have an external leak in my coolant system, dripping off the bottom of the radiator, not into the cases. I had thought it was the left side radiator which I damaged enough to bend it, so I sent it out for repair. They straightened it out but advised that it had no leak after repeated pressure testing by different...

Dean tries to go inside a little hot, Mike already outside sees it at the last minute, tries to turn inside to take the line away. The attempt to compare that to Mike aiming and popping clutch at Tickle solidifies my opinion of this family in racing. Believe the hype..
I'm looking forward to the replies on this, especially from guys who came off of a 450 on to the 350. Also a vet guy with a crf450 but an interest in the 350. I've never ridden one but have heard that it feels more like a big 250 than a small 450- engine likes to be ridden high. If...

mxgreg85 Added a reply to 95 honda cr125 with newer front end ?

1/20/2014 4:51pm
I would caution against this. If you swapped everything out like you're prepared to do, you could probably make it work, but those forks are sprung and valved to work for a 450. Assuming you'd be leaving the stock 125 shock on there, would be tough to make it feel balanced. Rubber mounted is nice but won't be a miracle...

mxgreg85 Added a reply to High performance exhausts.

9/27/2013 3:53pm
The "big 2" of aftermarket exhaust companies are Pro Circuit and FMF. While everyone has their opinion and will favor one over another, both are good. You will have to choose between a nickel plated or unfinished/factory header. Nickel plated requires little maintenance, while unfinished will surface rust and has to be dried after getting wet, oiled with wd40 and...

mxgreg85 Started a new thread RG3 20mm offset triple clamps

1/27/2012 12:27am
My bike is a 2007 KX250f. I'm looking to make it turn better, and have a chance to get RG3 20mm offset clamps for a good deal. Right now, my setup is stock. Sag around 95mm and forks raised up in the clamps to the 2nd marker line to weight the front end as much as possible. I've experimented with...

mxgreg85 Started a new thread Tsubaki chain experiences?

1/26/2012 7:52am
I picked up a Tsubaki chain for a deal, non-o ring, basic mx chain. It seems to be stretching a lot faster that prior chains I've used (DID ert2, Renthal R1). It seems like I'm tightening it every other moto, however I know chains stretch a bit when new then settle down after a while. I probably have 6-7 motos...

For the record I disagree with Reed's move. However, that aside, did he really think that there was a chance that JS7 would have locked it up and allowed him to take the position? These two riders know each other... I don't think that there was a doubt in anyone's mind that James was going to go for it no...

mxgreg85 Added a reply to Removing shock?

12/4/2010 12:58pm
It would probably be easiest to just remove the subframe, as you're going to have to re-install it too. Allen head bolts on the frame above where the swingarm connects (directly below the shock reservoir on bottom pic), another up top near where the frame screws into the rear fender, and loosen the clamp holding the air boot on the...

mxgreg85 Added a reply to When should I upgrade?

11/26/2010 1:34pm
Being a beginning rider, staying on the small bore 2 stroke will be very beneficial to improving your track skills. Learning to carry your momentum through corners is much easier on a small bike that you can manhandle and slam berms with the gas on without it getting away from you. Having to ride your bike more aggressively than other...
