Monkeys6.7 Added a reply to Yz450 100hr rebuild
4/6/2026 1:58pm Thank you for the insight. I’m mainly just replacing the cylinder head stuff for piece of mind and it’s not very expensive. And yes, I was going to check the crank once I got the cylinder off and see how it feels. I was mainly just curious if anybody has dealt with the apparent connecting rod longetivity issue. I believe...

4/6/2026 1:51pm At 100 hours id say you've proven that you dont have one of the "weak" cranks. I like to do a leak down test to give me an accurate indication of the overall health of the engine. Rocky mountain sells the kits relatively inexpensive. When doing the test you will be able to hear where the "leakage" is coming from . Id be paying close attention to the exhaust and airbox which is going to give you feedback on how well the valves are sealing . Then once apart you can perform the fluid test with air to actually see...

Monkeys6.7 Started a new thread Yz450 100hr rebuild
4/2/2026 2:35pm I’m coming up to 100 hours on my 2024 yz450 soon and just curious what everybodies thoughts are on necessary replacement parts… I’m a Vet B rider, very easy on the bike, not a revver, also am a mechanic by trade and very analytical about my bikes being maintained. Anyways, my local cylinder head shop recommended I should do valve...

8/11/2025 10:49pm 2024 450 here. Vet B rider… 61 hours and havnt touched a single thing other than change oil every 3-4ish hours and oil filter every other oil change. Air filter sometimes will last me 3 rides before I would consider it “dirty”. I love the air filter location when washing the bike, unless you get right under the cover with...

6/3/2025 8:59am Dt-1 is a fun, jumpy, rutted track built on flat ground with no elevation change. Also not the best smelling during the hot summer due to it being next to a water treatment plant… Honolulu hills is a good mix of hardpack, soft dirt, ruts, jumps and hills and very safe. Havnt ridden American mx as they’re only open select...

11/25/2024 10:02pm Yes I believe he had the two tracks mixed up. The little girl was Elsinore. As far as LACR goes with their current insurance, obviously the insurance company decided not to renew their policy and the cheapest quote they got from another company was $160k for the year. However, I do know they, along with many others, are working to do whatever they can to get this figured out. They have multiple ways they are thinking of going depending on how the insurance thing works out. Fingers crossed!

11/25/2024 7:59pm Are you sure that a girl passed away at LACR and not at Lake Elsinore? I thought the reason Elsinore closed was due to a girl being ran into on the kids track.

11/24/2024 2:51pm If ya'll would pay $50 to practice instead of the usual $35, a lot of tracks would be able to keep their heads above water a little more. That's an extra $1500 a day for a 100 rider turnout. I know it would be much higher for Fox or Cahuilla as they get much larger crowds on average, but people are cheap.

4/25/2024 7:57am That’s what I was attempting to say, the land where the clip resides in the reservoir probably broke off. Rare but I’m sure there’s tons of force exerted on that spot from a hard landing like Ken was doing from that triple before the whoops.

4/23/2024 9:35pm If you put the bladder on the bladder cap, and try to inflate the bladder, it won't take much pressure to blow the bladder off the bladder cap.

4/23/2024 5:40pm Yes very true. I was only referencing the size of the bladder as I think it may of contributed in holding the cap and snap ring against the exhaust after the initial failure when Kenny landed from the triple before the whoops. A shock breaking its casting is very rare but as we saw with Shane’s failure, anything can happen...

4/23/2024 3:38pm I’d like to give my Synopsis, for anyone who cares… my guess is that the bottom land of the shock reservoir where the circlip is retained is only about 1/8” thick or so failed and blew out. When it did that the clip, bladder cap and bladder itself got wedged between the shock and the exhaust. All while spewing shock...

3/18/2024 4:53pm My 21 is the same way. I had to replace the lower shock linkage bearing due to water intrusion/ lacking on maintenance and even after a brand new bearing and packing everything else I still have slight up and down play.
