While removing hands might deter the handless thief...or slow them down even...I have been to the countries that use this "deterrent". There was always a line of folks waiting for the blade. I didn't see any deterrent effect. Maybe some victim satisfaction and a lot of sick fucks that enjoyed the cruelty aspect. I have given up any hope of prison rehabilitation. As long as the gangs run the prisons there is no chance of redemption. I ain't offering any solutions but I know that public mutilation or hanging will NOT end crime...it don't work like that.

I have the victim perspective as well, I had 2 OGIO 9800’s with gear stolen (7500$ worth) recently while in Baja. There wasn’t anything in those bags worth a persons hands. But anyone who steals from another for monetary gain is a piece of shit in my book and needs to be flushed as such.

Do I wish I could get my bikes back and a settlement on top of that? Yes. Do I want the people who did it to have their hands cut off? Fuck no. The chassis, weight, and rider triangle isn’t great at all. Also, they are not as efficient as the two strokes to maintain. the motor really isn’t too shabby though.

Probably a combo. It was a wonderful engine if they could have made it quieter. The one we had was louder than a lot of full size race bikes and only tolerable with a choked up aftermarket system. Then you have kids growing out of bikes quickly at the stage when they are on that kind of bike, and I don't think it has the resale. That engine, quieter, in a full size frame would have been a good step up/entry level bike above the XRs
