Maybe you will motivate some factory teams to stick with the rubber instead. It doesn’t look like the standard grip tape lasts even 1 moto or less with the lack of adhesive grab power. Not very gritty for gritty riders.

The Acerbis rubber frame grip looks a lot more effective and durable than the sandpaper stuff, I wonder how the riders feel they compare. Big B is the bouncer for the bikes too. Is that backup fuel in the Rockstar mule tank?

I use those Acerbis rubber guards, and I love them, but they need to be periodically disassembled and cleaned to avoid the accumulation of mud and sand between the guards and the frame.

I’m gonna say it, these bikes are hands down the nicest restorations I’ve seen. Up in the same category as people like Doc Wob in the UK. Good work man.

6/22/2024 7:00am The YZ250x (or Fantic) two stroke would be my choice. I've ridden on MX tracks with a Sherco SE 250 Factory. With a few clicks on the kyb suspensions, it works decently.

The flywheel on my CR80 is the same as the one your engine has mounted. It seems that this other one has added a weight to the flywheel, or it could be an aftermarket heavier flywheel . If it's handmade, probably that it is not balanced and produces vibrations.

Agreed, it's the same with cars, I've sold Mk1 Golfs for more than they sold for new and have a couple of AE86 Corollas right now, insane money for an old 1.6 Toyota... An example of, arguably, the coolest motocross bike of its era (or ever) in that condition is a collectors item.

I put a set of 2007 Showa’s on this bike. Fully rebuilt of course. As much as I would like to use stock forks the issue becomes the outers. They are generally sun bleached and pitted from roost. If I’m going to go to as much efforts as I am the front end needs to look impressive. When there is pitting it’s near impossible to do anything about that when recoating with anodize. The pits readily show through. The 1994 will have a set of later model twin chamber Showa’s that suffer from the pitting issue through the anodize. The...
