They love the sound, they love how much fun,they love easy and cost of both bike ans maintenance. And then they ride a 450. This is VERY incorrect. You can't just divide one number by the other without factoring in the denominators. You are not calculating for the amount of people driving cars daily vs people riding dirt bikes yearly. In the US ALONE, there are 255 million registered drivers on the road yearly. Take your number of 42k fatal accidents per year, your chance of fatality is around 0.00016. Now how many people ride dirtbikes each year? How many people ride on a track (This is what we are talking about here, not people who buy bikes and ride in a field or...

In aviation, accident stats are divided by flight hours. Usually a number showing accident rates per 100,000 flight hours. There would be a huge difference in rates per 100,000 hours of everyone in an auto compared to 100,000 hrs of everyone racing motocross.

In 10-15 years ago we had a couple of deaths during the summer here in Sweden. After that we raised the age for being able to go pro from 15 to 17 I think it was and pushed hard for a class called 125 U17. We don’t run superminis in Europe so we ride 85’s and the next step is 125. We had a class called 125U (U stands for ungdom that is the Swedish word for youth) that riders between 14-16 could run. And that worked fine until 2004 when Honda/Kawi/Suzuki released their 250fs and our sanction body re-named...

It’s time to slow the fucking bikes down. I get it some old schooler will be along to call me a pussy but the bikes have far outran protection. A full mod 250f is far more bike than a 250 2 stroke was back in the day. Not to mention 450s. This is devastating news. The exact reason neither of my kids will ride. Injuries are one thing. Not bringing your child home is another.

This has been my experience with my 23 300sx also… 135 hrs, 1 top end for preventative and powervalve service and 1 clutch while it was apart for top end….original battery. I did have EcU flashed for smoother hit after 40hrs of running it stock….one or the best bikes I have ever owned….with that said, if you get a good deal on a carbed version of the 18-22 250”s, they are great bikes too…..
