I feel ya on this. As fans, we tend to side with the racers first, the bike brands second and then the series (i.e. Pro Motocross v MXGP). That’s a natural progression considering how we came to the sport… by riding and racing ourselves. That said, when you look at the history of professional dirt bike racing, it didn’t really start with a bunch of guys who just love dirt bikes; it started with a dude (Edison Dye) who wanted to sell bikes, so he organized a race and hired a bunch of pros to race and show off the...

Except they don’t. Feld/MX Sports are the owners of any and all content created by those in a vest, per the agreement made when applying for credentials. That’s how I read it.

If the sport really want to go big time (sarcasm), Feld should be revenue sharing like the stick and ball sports. Feld would give the teams a percentage of TV revenue, and the team would give a perentage to the riders, that would create some sort of union though which would end up being just as corrupt etc...really think the manufactures will have the biggest influnce since their sales are most directly related. End of the day the cost will always be pushed to the consumer. Sort of over of all sports since I seem to be going broke while...

Too bad the Riders cant charge Feld a fee, after all the photos and vids are of them. Also the manufactures and aftermarket should be able to charge Feld a fee for using their products for thier promotions. The product is the racing and machines/parts etc...not the actual brodcast etc....the idea dirtbking is a grass roots sport is in a dilema, with costs to be a fan and weekend warrior on the track or trails has to be pushing families out.

I cannot wait for Weege's & Co's take on this. On a serious note, absolutely mind boggling that people at Feld have come to the conclusion that this is a good idea and will improve their product and/or make them more money. Absolutely insane. One thing is for sure, this will completely change the way race weekends are consumed from my POV. And i will never buy the international stream package again, the free streams will do for me going forward. And i hope Vital and others put more of the budget towards covering other series, like the GPs.

Really simple. Stop going, stop watching on tv. I’d rather ride my own bike than watch either way.

This would be such a massive loss to the media of this sport. Nothing I love more than seeing Press Day videos before the weekend to get me excited for the racing.

If I’m understanding things correctly, ML/Vital is going to have to “pay for content” and could possibly end up in an intellectual property dilemma over “who” takes the photos for Pit Pits… The “league photographers” language gets very interesting and appears to have implications regarding who can shoot what. Maybe Pit Bits becomes a Member Participarion Feature…?

At the same time… It’s UNBELIEVABLE what you can do with an iPhone these days…and even an iPhone w/attachments. 🤣
