Too bad the Riders cant charge Feld a fee, after all the photos and vids are of them. Also the manufactures and aftermarket should be able to charge Feld a fee for using their products for thier promotions.
The product is the racing and machines/parts etc...not the actual brodcast etc....the idea dirtbking is a grass roots sport is in a dilema, with costs to be a fan and weekend warrior on the track or trails has to be pushing families out.
People with money and power have been destroying things and calling it "change" since there was money, and power...and ALWAYS to increase their money and power.
Not a legal eagle type, but thought about the manufacturers saying the same thing. No Honda or Yamaha in the advertisements. The bigger question is the vendors who support the sport. The gear folks, the engine parts brigade and tire companies. We have all seen a video where a logo is blurred out for some reason or other. The times they are a changing.
Wait until the riders figure out they own their image…….

If the sport really want to go big time (sarcasm), Feld should be revenue sharing like the stick and ball sports. Feld would give the teams a percentage of TV revenue, and the team would give a perentage to the riders, that would create some sort of union though which would end up being just as corrupt etc...really think the manufactures will have the biggest influnce since their sales are most directly related. End of the day the cost will always be pushed to the consumer. Sort of over of all sports since I seem to be going broke while the leagues, teams and players are multi millionares. Oh well. ill just worry bout my family and ride, supporting the local tracks while they are still around.
Still blows me away that the power these people have over everyone funding their business venture.

Except they don’t. Feld/MX Sports are the owners of any and all content created by those in a vest, per the agreement made when applying for credentials.

When the riders actually figure that out, “THEY ARE THE SHOW”, things will change. Yet, I wouldn’t hold my breath waiting for riders to take control of the sport.
Then again, ask Jimmy Eickel how that worked out for him……..
I feel ya on this. As fans, we tend to side with the racers first, the bike brands second and then the series (i.e. Pro Motocross v MXGP). That’s a natural progression considering how we came to the sport… by riding and racing ourselves.
That said, when you look at the history of professional dirt bike racing, it didn’t really start with a bunch of guys who just love dirt bikes; it started with a dude (Edison Dye) who wanted to sell bikes, so he organized a race and hired a bunch of pros to race and show off the product. The factories took notice, as did the type of businessmen who step up to become promoters.
As fans, we will probably never agree with the business decisions being made by the “owners” of this sport, but that’s a common experience for just about all professional sports. It is what it is… and if it reaches the point where we become offended, we have a ready solution: stop following it.

Let's be honest: Has Feld's tenure as promotor of the premier US supercross series been perfect? No.
But have they always made good-faith changes and improvements that increase not only their ticket sales, but are mutually beneficial to the manufacturers, riders, aftermarket companies and media who provide, at great expense, the talent needed to put on the show that sells all those tickets? Also no.
