I rode an 02 RM for some years and thought it handled great, think it was my twelfth RM250. Have an 07 I ride now along with a couple of RMZs. As far as headshake goes, they rode/ride like a Suzuki and if that's what you ride it's hardly noticeable. I had earlier RMs that shook their heads much worse in my opinion.

Don't let these guys ruin that bike for you, I have an 04 and absolutely love it. Mine is stock with nothing but a V-force reed cage + fmf pipe, and when I rode it back to back with a new yz at a demo day I didn't feel like the power gap was absolutely earth shattering like people claim. While the yz was a LOT easier to keep in the powerband, I didn't feel like my Honda was down a whole lot on peak power. Maybe it was just because I was more comfortable on my familiar bike, but...

I know you all live in various areas, but what if I said that I will store your bike for you, bring it out to the track for you, set everything up and when done, I'll take it back and do any basic maintenance including wash and filter. How much that worth to you, honestly? All you'll need to do is show up and ride.

That's good news. Not to be argumentative, do you have a source for this? I was looking for information all afternoon online including CARB website. Perhaps my google skills are lacking. That said, unless CA SB 227 is passed, it is still my understanding we will be limited to riding those bikes on private land only however. No issue for most MX guys, big deal for us offroad folks.

I'm not a scientist or an engineer, but have followed this saga for a number of years including reading all the publicly available presentations by CARB. There is no two stroke, including TPI's, currently available that will come close to meeting the CARB or even US emissions standards. Euro standards they meet are very different than US standards and the pollutants they are trying to reduce. Perhaps direct injection, which is very different than TPI. I had an 03 with 450 forks revalved for the 125, they were a clear improvement over stock. I never switched the shock so I can't comment there. My 05 I have now has CRF forks/clamps but also keeping stock shock.
