blueoval177 Added a reply to Importing a bike into the US from Canada
2/10/2016 4:25pm I've done some of this in the past. MX bikes are competition/off-road motorcycles. There is literally nothing needed to bring them into Canada. They have a sticker on them stating for competition that use so all you need is a bill of sale and you pay tax. For into the US NHTSA states off-road bikes don't need FMVSS standards or...

blueoval177 Added a reply to FI 2 Stroke..
3/23/2015 7:11pm The main 2 stroke DI systems have always been battery powered (may not be a problem these days i.e. KTM), complex, and needed some form of high pressure injection. Just google Orbital, FICHT/ETEC, Mercruiser, style systems. In an outboard its not so much a problem, in a sled it starts to become one, and in a bike it would be...
blueoval177 Added a reply to FI 2 Stroke..
3/23/2015 4:26pm That's Arctic Cat's patented DI system for snowmobiles. Designed in the USA and built in St Cloud, MN. Has had extremely good reliability. It works without a battery, no high pressure pumps or high crank case temperatures. The throttle body can let in fuel at the crankcase and the injector on the side can squirt fuel on top of the...

Lommel >> Gopher dunes > Southwick
Never been to the other ones (or Lommel). Lommel looked unreal, Decoster mentioned the ruts being up to his waist. I hope they release GoPro footage of Herlings in the last race...

blueoval177 Added a reply to Best all around 450 from 2008-10
1/20/2012 7:09am KX 450 is a physically larger bike (a little bit heavier) than the Honda or Suzuki. It's strengths will be in the engine department and being fairly stable in the air and whoop sections. Cornering is not as easy as the other 2 bikes (in stock form), you need to be aggressive on the bike. If that makes any sense...
blueoval177 Added a reply to Thor Helmet Sizes
12/12/2011 1:27pm HJC is the builder of Thor helmets, to their specs. Sizes run very similar. I believe it is a one shell helmet, with varying liner/pad combos. They size very normal, I find One Industries sizes run smaller for comparison, I.e. One 2XL = Thor XL.
blueoval177 Added a reply to 2012 Kawi 250F Experiences
11/29/2011 11:43am Showa SFF is fun to work with. Easier and more versatile to tune than a standard set. Might get some into trouble with all the adjustments that can be made. 2011 almost everyone complained about being soft. You can either change the spring or cheat a bit and add some oil on the RH if its too soft on high...
blueoval177 Added a reply to Is Harley, Polaris and KTM killing the Big 4?
11/29/2011 6:24am As someone who was in the powersports industry for quite some time, here's my take. The growing SxS market has been driven by older people, males, usually 40+ with incomes generally 75,000+. One company said 80% of buyers were earning over 100,000+, will vary state to state. The Harley market and cruiser market in general, again older wealthier clients. Snowmobiles...
blueoval177 Added a reply to Is Harley, Polaris and KTM killing the Big 4?
11/28/2011 4:37pm The KTM/Polaris alliance barfed out. They moved their separate ways a few years ago, was to be an alliance for dealer bases for KTM and shared tech. but it didn't go well at a corporate level. Polaris has since bought an electric car company from Chrysler/Fiat and Indian motorcycles. Bombardier has an alliance of sorts with Aprillia and there was...
