Yes, that link/article on Speedway that ohiomotoxer posted made a great read and was very informative. Maybe he has more info and stories? I had heard of Rupp before (distantly) but did not know of Speedway and the fact that they were both from Mansfield as well as a former Rupp employee forming Speedway, as the article stated. So they...

Speedway? Interesting.... In my neighborhood we had Steen's, Chaparral's and Rupp's with the same 80 or 100cc Fuji/Hodaka powerplant. Don't remember Speedway's though.

Your welcome, think Andre is well known and is helpful and abit of a specialist. Also- if you use FB, there is a good Zundapp- Sachs group I believe, that also maybe very useful for you to hook up with other owners/ specialists and get any info/ parts etc.

Awesome project Fig, I'll send you a PM with my contact info (if I can figure out how to do that...) We alternate between Phoenix and Flagstaff most every week (we have businesses in both areas), I would be happy to help you working on the bikes and/or transporting parts or parts bikes if you are able to find anything in the Phoenix area to bring to Flagstaff. And we can kick in a few bucks to help you get started. Randy Shipley

Yes- as ohiomotoxer correctly writes, a Speedway.... If you close up on the seat can see the name. At first I incorrectly thought it was the Sachs 80cc engine but that has the Fuji 100cc engine (Japanese-model F500k, 5speed 10hp). Seems this engine was also used in some Indian and Hodaka models of a similar time. The model you have...

Finally, the project begins, a project that is close to my heart, a project that I feel will be one of the coolest motorcycle restorations in memory Bruce Bunch, Rick Hemme and my best friend Kyle Fleming. Bruce, Rick and Kyle were three of Team R&D Suzuki’s brightest future motocross stars. Many feel the record books would look different today if it weren’t for that fateful day in 1982 at Ponca City. In 2017, Brett J. Smith wrote the book “The Darkest Day in Motocross” diving into the details of the accident that took these three kids. It was an...

My grandpa used to forage Morel mushrooms in season. He'd have 2 or 3 grocery sacks full. He'd fry up a bunch with steak and eggs for breakfast...gotdamn that was good eatin'.

Like 15 years ago- I went on a holiday to Italy- visiting a few friends I had there. In the Northern region, Piemonte, my Italian friend took me Mushroom foraging, I did not have a clue and must admit was a little nervous in case we picked something poisionous. My Friend told me its safe; as his Grandfather taught him...

Hey Lewis, my memory is working overtime remembering those days in the 1980's when your Dad was hammering it.... Obviously you were not born at the time but I am trying to recall some of the riders he banged bars with, am I correct in thinking that your Dad and James Marsh (who became a very good 500GP rider) had...

Yes- my last post I am not really referring to as to whether the OP used holes 1 or 2 and I am understanding the points people are making. I was more really just enquiring as to if people have seen other bikes that have cracked/ failed at that frame/ footpeg point, Kawi or other, rather than questioning the mounting...

Yea- some great memories of those days and many of the fast riders back then, as well as the events, tracks and clubs- a while back now but I can remember alot of it like yesterday! How the sport has sort of 'changed' from those times in a way, looking back, its interesting to compare the older days to the...

Yes, I get the different size bolts etc, just couldn't see any threads but as said maybe they just were not visible by the angle of the picture and are recessed as explained. Wonder how many other bikes, other than this Kawi have cracked at that frame position or similar? I guess there could be alot of force/ impact transference...

I got no dog in this fight; nor do I want to add to the tension, but there is some confusion to me. If holes 1-3 or 2-4 are the correct mountings, then why by the pics are holes 1-2 threaded and holes 3-4 look unused (unthreaded)? Confused, can see what MxAddic is saying, he is going by the pics...

Not sure of a bio, but surely Lewis's previous involvement in MX / journalism says a hell of alot. One thing I can say, is that I raced at the sametime as his father, often the same regions and clubs; absolutely superb rider his Dad was.... he was as fast as you like. Could run with the very best guys...

Gary, do you have any help? My wife didn't have it nearly as bad as Jan. So while I can relate to what you're going through, not to the extent of what it really is. Many of the centers also offer help. They can put you in touch with some organizations that might have a volunteer to come over and help out for half a day here and there. I know when you don't do things yourself there's a guilt associated with it but sometimes you just need a few hours of rest. TM
