Don't want to hijack Flmxer Thanksgiving thread any further.

So here is my sweet Maggie after getting attacked by that freaking dog this morning.
It's gonna be about 10 to 14 days before these deep wounds start to heal good.

She's heavily sedated right now and will have to have the cone when she is not monitored. Trying to keep her away from my other dog is not going to be an easy task.
Jan has more Chemo Tuesday. 😥

This really is the last thing I need right about now....

I'm sorry buddy and I sincerely hope Maggie makes a full recovery, and Jan as well. I know I come off as an a$$hole on this board, but I'm a huge animal lover and I assume Jan is your wife. I have had several family and friends fight that f'n disease and wish her, you, your family the best of luck. Take care.

I’m really sorry to hear that, Gary. Does Maggie have a room in the house she’s most comfortable in? If so, maybe you can separate her and your other dog . That way while you take care of Jan, you won’t have to worry about the dogs dicking with each other.

Don't worry about my thread Gary. I'm just glad Maggie is safe now. I like animals much more than people. Keeping all your loved ones in our hearts.

Dogs are the only creatures that deserve a shot at heaven. Maybe some cats and maybe some horses. But not humans.

Luv Animals, thanks buddy and to EVERYONE ELSE.

Meanwhile it's just Maggie and I chilling in the basement (Sully it's working out good so far) and my "To Do List" is off the charts! Unsure

Dogs are the best, poor little Maggie. Is she still very active and wants to play 24/7 or are you going to be able to keep her calm for a few days? Not to hijack the thread but where's Jan in her cycle? Getting chemo, rough days after, a few not so bad days? And during the bad days does Maggie lay with her a lot to comfort her?

Maggie is a very active dog and loves to play and fetch non stop.
They gave her 4 different medications and only one is antibiotic the rest are pain and sedation meds. So trying to keep her sedated and calm and also separated from Bailey.

My poor Jan has been going through chemo for over 2 years and they recently switched it as the previous one stopped working. She was having it every 2 weeks and usually would have about a 5 good days before it starts all over again...

With this new chemo there seems to be no real good days to recover and the side effects have been much worse.
I've mentioned it to her that the doctor needs to adjust it but she wants to continue on to see if it's working as she is concerned and does not want the cancer to grow or spread again.

She is so brave, I'm the one that is a wreck and having a hard time with all of this but I can't let her know that (she knows) and encourage her as much as I can.

Bailey is a very loving dog and lays with her on the bed and I'm so happy that we have these dogs to keep her company while I'm at work. I'm not sure how much longer I can keep going there knowing what she is going through at home.

Thank you👍

You’re being pretty brave yourself! Maintaining your sanity and staying on course, for two years in the face of REAL adversity is commendable.

Gary, do you have any help? My wife didn't have it nearly as bad as Jan. So while I can relate to what you're going through, not to the extent of what it really is. Many of the centers also offer help. They can put you in touch with some organizations that might have a volunteer to come over and help out for half a day here and there. I know when you don't do things yourself there's a guilt associated with it but sometimes you just need a few hours of rest.

Thanks TM thats a good idea, we're not quite there yet.
She has more Chemo tomorrow after her usual blood work today and that will hopefully give a clue if the new harsh Chemo is working. 🙏

Thanks for all your advice.
After the Oncologist meeting I will go home to care for Maggie (she's doing good), and she also has a Vet appointment.

Oh and the guy whose dog it was who I was friends before we are still good friends, he's a nice guy and glad to see our friendship wasn't damaged.

He did say they were going to get their dog fixed.

I’m not good at posting links, so hopefully this works. My cousin is a nurse and sent me this article. I thought I would pass it along to you in hopes that it might help. I’ve lost my mom, cousin, and friend to cancer in about 8yrs time, so I’m constantly reading about breakthroughs or alternatives in hopes that it might help someone.

G-man I don’t know you but you are a saint.  Glad your pup is recovering.  I had 3 generations of Golden Retrievers at one time and sadly now I’m down to the last one and she has some age on her.  When that day comes that she’s gone, I know I won’t handle it well.

Hope your wife can get the right combo of chemo and medicine and make a full recovery.  None of us know how much time we have but she’s lucky to have you in her corner.  Hoping and praying for the best outcome for both of you.  Hang in there.

Good to hear bud.  Sidekick mended up and good relations with the neighbors...win/win.
