It's a bit of a tangent, but one interesting thing to ponder is when humans became individuals. I don't mean singular persons in the literal sense, but when did individual property rights become a concept. For early humans to survive, it required a group to protect, produce, and nurture the young. During that period it is only logical that 'the group' shared nearly everything and worked towards the common goal of survival. We obviously don't have the same level of pressures to comingle our resources quite that drastically now, but it is intriguing to think about just when that switch...
