Seeing posts about an accident where a rider lost his life yesterday. Sad news RIP and condolences to family and friends.
Was shocked to see a video on Facebook of the crash. Very sad. RIP to the rider.
Not sure why GH has such a big drop off on the outside of that massive start berm....
The start straight at GH is far too fast. Any crash there is always going to be serious at that speed. And having a deep chasm on the outside of a steeply banked first turn is just crazy.
I can’t believe they just re-racked the riders and carried on with the moto. Most people I spoke to on Saturday had no idea that the poor guy lost his life.
Fortuantly the video I saw has been taken down, it's graphic, terrible to see.
Unfortuantly, it's possible there's going to be some kind of lawsuit. Regardless of whether anybody signed a waiver or not.

Robert "Coors Light" Kuhry. Solid dude who was 100% moto and life. Godspeed my brother.
RIP used to follow him on insta was really funny and seemed like a cool dude.
RIP to the man. Big respect and thinking of his family.
RIP
What a bummer. That dude was a character and LOVED moto.
Dang. He was pure moto. Fun dude for sure. Was a ripper too.
the crazy pool cleaning guy that was kinda viral like 8 yrs ago. brutal.
From the video I saw it almost looked like his throttle stuck open.
The actual Talledega track that Glen Helen’s first turn is named after also has a massive drop off on the far side. The obvious difference is the miles upon miles of catch fences and barriers.
There was a stretch of very soft dirt across the start straight after all that rain they had, apparently he hit that and as the bike bogged down in to it he got half thrown over the bars in the “ flying w” way and whiskey throttled it over the top of the turn.
Fucking awful, guy must have been terrified. We had friends racing that saw it and packed up and stopped because it messed with their heads.
We went up Saturday and compared to previous years the whole event was pretty lame.
A couple years ago, some guy got hit by his friend on the track at Woodland MX (in WA) and died.
We weren't even there for that long, but felt the same way. Packed-up an left.
I’ve never seen anybody fly off or even come close to flying off that part of the track. People asked me how far the drop off is & I’m like I’ve got no idea I’ve never even been remotely close to over there. Very sad & unfortunate. I don’t think people knew he died because I had a guy ask me on his way home that day what happened to kuhry & the news wasn’t even really out yet, at the end of the race day.
Everybody loved kuhry. Wild dude. Energy was next level.
Horrible to hear. I saw the post on FB it looked brutal. I've seen some gnarly first turn crashes at GH but obv the outcome was awful here.
Regarding the event being lame - just looking at the results it looked pretty light. I don't know how you schedule an event where most of the riders are dads or granddads on Halloween weekend. Anytime Halloween is on a Thursday-Sunday it's pretty much impossible to race this race if you have kids you actually care about.
RIP to a racer that Shared The Stoke.
Pit Row
Horrible news.
I remember him popping up all over my instagram about 10 years ago, and transworld even did an interview with him
If my memory is correct, he didn’t start riding until much later in life than most and appeared to be ripping for an older guy with only a few rides under his belt
Dudes love for coors, weed and Hondas was next level
This really has me quite mad and saddened. Such a needless loss.
If that banked turn had just had smooth run-off up the hill, this man would still be with us.
Motocross is a dangerous sport to begin with. I just don’t get why tracks have become so much faster than they used to be, alongside bikes getting more powerful at the same time. That start straight is wide-open in 5th, at what, 70+mph? With handlebars side-by-side. It’s a catastrophic accident waiting to happen.
It makes no sense that tracks are so fast these days, and with jumps on every frickin’ straight. Motocross would still be motocross if the speeds were lower and jumps were fewer.
I used to race with him at Vet X back in the day. Good dude and a fierce competitor. RIP friend.
Maybe there was a medical issue which actually caused the crash?
Personally I did see the video, but I know first hand of 3 of my friends that have all passed at a track within the last several years and all were a result of a medical issue that caused the crash.
You really can't rule it out....
Just thinking out loud... I've seen first hand.
It is possible Robert may have had a medical issue 3/4's down the straight - hands were off bars, body slumped forward, while bike ghost rode up and over the first turn. Very sad story! RIP Coors Light RK 33!
