On Matthes’ Sexton Kawi reaction podcast he says, in summary, “Chase will get a $200-300k salary, then with a gear deal and whatever energy drink money he’ll be over $1 million.”
Anybody have an idea of the range energy drink sponsors pay? I remember years ago hearing $1 million/year was a standard Alpinestars gear deal for the top guys.
$1 million a year for a gear deal? Where you hear that?
RC, James, Reed, were all getting a million from Fox and that was 20 years ago. I don't think it's changed that much. Kenny and Deegan are a million.
At least a free case of Monster.
I don’t remember where, but I do remember that $1M was the ‘standard’ Alpinestars deal. Of course that was back when they only had a couple of riders and didn’t actually sell MX gear (other than boots) in the US. The discussion was about how they were paying so much to promote gear that they didn’t even sell.
Times have changed, though.

Great question... would love to know what a red bull or monster deal is worth..
Also....
Anybody know what happened between red bull and tp199??
We have the same specific fuzzy memory. I think at the time it was Barcia, maybe Anderson, Tomac, and a few more. It was more guys and more money than made any sense for the amount of product they could possibly sell.
I think the split had to do with wanting to build the Nitro Circus brand and requirements for logo placement on gear and at their shows. But that’s fuzzier than the Alpinestars memory.
He got a fat offer from BRCC, rumor was like 10m a year which would be wild
Also brcc is a bunch of clowns
A-stars deal is a cumulative performance-based salary escalator - If they win a championship their base salary increases - if they win 2 it increases again etc etc
The boys today need to make 1.77 mil to have the same spending power as RC and James did in 2005.
Why are they clowns?
I mean, have you seen their website? I remember when their stock price was almost $300 🤣
Please elaborate. I’m confused? I just looked at their website and the company clearly caters to service member and first responders.. but I’m not seeing anything on their website that makes me understand this comment.
Basically bros larping as 2nd amendment stalwarts while not holding up their end of the deal. I don't want this to go full political but you can dig into that if you so chose
So the gear deal is more than the team/bike contract?
In some cases, yes.
If the goofy bro-vet club isn't enough to steer you away, look into who and what all their founder supports.
Because the internet told him they are...
Pit Row
Gear salaries, coffee companies...
Still waiting for someone to chime in about energy drink salaries!
Kenny was a million dollars a few years back, so it's most likely still the same today.
Tomac according to Nicoletti:
https://racerxonline.com/2022/09/09/unphiltered
$1 to $1.5 million from Yamaha
$1 million championship bonus SX
$1 million or $750k championship bonus MX
$450K Monster deal to help the Yamaha deal
$120k a round per win all in
$75K Alpinestars gear deal with $500K championship
$100K Oakley
Or I can read and think critically, things you lack apparently
The only thing I know about them is they support military vets and first responders. It was a legit question so please enlighten me.
Supporting vets and first responders is fantastic. It has nothing to do with that. Due to a new forum rule I'm not really going into it. The information is out there and easy to find if you want.
If you say so, champ...
IIRC Tomac said that a sx championship bonus was 2 million within the last couple of years, he was talking shit about how the moto media is behind the times.
Crazy that Villo banked $1m USD for a weekend's work in 2011. Some serious purchasing power!
If he had taken the lot (lump taxed of course) and invested in S&P500 or bought real estate, he would be so much further ahead now than the 50k per year (or thereabouts) he took from the big M. Their accountants were probably stoked - inflation wore than down a long way.
The glory days really were the RC/Stew/Reed era, pre 08. Life was cheap and moto money was big.
IK i cringed when I saw that he took the annuity... you think he'd have a financial planner
I didn't think he had a choice.
Gear I am sure it's pretty known is usually ~$800k and 2/3 year term ($800k for the entire term)
If memory serves me right, I thought it was 1m over x many years, or lump sum was much less, like 400k or something.
