7 minutes if I drive the speed limit. Also likely best track in the state, holds an ATV National and LL qualifiers.

When I was riding motocross track, we had these tracks within 90ish minutes from me.

Piru MX, LACR, AV Motoplex, I-5 mx, Racetown/ Sunrise, Competitive Edge, Competition Park, Zaca Station, MX3 in Bakersfield

Only tracks left are Cal City MX, Cajuilla Creek, Pala, Glen Helen, unless you head north to Hanford, Tulare, American MX, Little Okie or Honolulu Hills. All are over 90 minutes from Santa Clarita

Is Chaney Ranch still running it was somewhat private and I think he was limiting to 100 people per day?

That is crazy.  Houston moto and the surrounding areas used to be booming.  No more Highlands? No more tracks along the 10 in the Beaumont area?

He was having water issues a few years ago, so ride days were limited. Yamaha and Kawasaki both had photo shoot days for new bikes. I was lucky to be on the list, but it’s been at least 6 years since I’ve been there.

2 tracks nearby.....

Track 1:  About 150 feet from the garage.  Probably more like a mini track for most folks but at 67 it works just fine for me and my KLX230R.  It's winding and has a few jumps and a 5' tall berm.  A unique feature is the over and under, an 8' tall, 16' long culvert pipe you ride over at one point and through later in the lap.  I added an additional "enduro line" that weaves around the inside of the track.  Guessing it takes me 3-4 minutes a lap, never really timed it and I'm not fast.

Track 2:  About 6-700 feet from the garage via a couple of different trail options that make it fun to get there.  More of a special test type course, no jumps but lots of twists and turns that wind through a grove of trees/bushes/undergrowth.  I think it's between 1/2 and 3/4 mile length.  Averages about 4' wide but several spots have single track alternate lines for testing handlebar width.

Have 4+ miles of trail that the tracks tie into.  Some is open, other spots pretty tight and a few rock gardens and technical areas.  Guessing it takes 30 minutes to ride a lap around the property.

Although only 26 acres total, it's great also for MTB, hunting, bird and wildlife watching, fishing, creek wading, etc.

Our state calls places like ours "postage stamp woods"

I've wanted to live in a place like this since I saw an article about a guy in similar circumstances in an old copy of Cycle World when I was in my teens..

I'm blessed to live here and to have a wife who is supportive of my trail building and riding obsessions.

There are 2 tracks within an hour or so, but I don't have interest since I can ride all I want at home.

Hell yeah. 26 acres isn’t small by any means, 1 of the public tracks I ride at is half of that including the parking lot. I tried making a small track on the 2 acres I have but 1 of my neighbors basically put a stop to that.

  • My property 0 minutes
  • Sick offroad trails in the mountains around my house 2 minutes riding
  • Chaney Ranch 15 minutes (private, ridden there a few times)
  • Cahuilla 30 minutes (my fave SoCal track)
  • Pala 45 minutes
  • Perris 60 minutes
  • Barona 60 minutes
  • Lake Elsinore 70 minutes (never ride there)
  • Glen Helen 90 minutes

I miss Milestone. My first house was 30 minutes away and when they had the annual pass I'd ride there 1.5 times a week.

The nearest track is 15 minutes away from my house and there's 12 official motocross tracks in 120 km (75 miles) radius + some unofficial places to ride. Blue marks on the map are motocross tracks

I’m shocked Finland has so many tracks. How do they compare to American tracks?

You forgot about Quail Canyon/Gorman MX.  That's been closed since 2022 due to a water well failure.  As of February they are still trying to drill a new well.

Most of the tracks are sandy with a hard base and quite slow compared to your tracks because they are built in a relatively small area.

Kurjenneva is typical track in this area:

Alavus MX Park is the best track in our area, hosting a round of the Finnish Nationals every year. It’s a sand track that features plenty of elevation changes :

The Lapua track is another example of a small practice track :
