Can we delete the down vote button?

Edited Date/Time 1 day ago

In todays media environment people will do whatever it takes to enrage the fans in order to get a reaction.

I believe if we delete the down vote button it will go a long way to stopping this and the forums might become a lot closer to what they were before all this modern day reaction marketing tomfoolery

There is zero doubt how the machanism works:

-Do something outlandish

-Post about it on vital / Chinese social MX media bot pages etc

-Wait for reactions

-Provoke reactions if there arent enough

-Get other media / Chinese social MX media bot pages talking about it from those reactions

-Profit while tuning vital into a cess pit of reactions over made up bullshit

Poll

What could we do?

Just stop having them be anonymous. Nothing like enabling the worst aspects of the internet.

Exactly. I always found it odd the downvotes are anonymous

This would go a long way towards the goal.

If we do nothing we are just being played while our quality of forum discussion keeps declining

Another interesting point: a post like this gets down voted from 30 anonymous accounts and it gets hidden due to downvotes .. so 30 anonymous people or bots are dictating what us normal wholesome moto heads get to see - and are essentially ruling the forum for their own goals

Most users post under psuedonyms, showing the username wont remove the anonymity

I advocate for evaluating the content of the message rather than being influenced by what appears popular.

No doubt it’s abused to hide comments

You mean the hurt feelings button? Don’t let it get to you, dude.

If one is anonymous they should both be anonymous. Or just let people see both. Always been weird to me. If somebody doesn’t like something enough to downvote it let them be proud of it.

It’s a shame there is so much negativity on Vital.

Make them non anonymous so I don’t have to make a reply to let someone know their opinion is wrong 😂

Would be interesting to know why the Admin/Vital wants and prefers to have them anonymous, of course it's the give a voice to those who don't dare to voice their opinions but what is the reason, does it drive more clicks, ad-revenue, of course it cannot be out of evil.

I thought it might be a speed/storage/bandwidth thing, but hard to know.

Because they think by creating controversy is good for the site activity.

I got a down vote for posting a picture of the new KX 2 stroke and saying it looked and sounded good in person.

Make it known who’s does such childish shit.

Thats unfortunate that you aren't engaging your brain today, I usually respect its work haha.

-It seems petty on the surface but its the core mechanism the new age coordinated moto media makers use. I personally prefer the forums old modus operandi before the rage baiters came along.

It creates clicks so it won't go away, but it's like being on a playground in 1st grade

I generally get one (or more..) downvotes on everything I post, no matter what topic. It’s just a part of posting thoughts on a public platform, not something to worry about.

I’d prefer all feedback be open, but I think I understand the reasoning behind anonymous downvotes..

It’s pretty much irrelevant either way, Vital is a great forum for moto people

Next year VitalMX is going to start charging $10/mo for a special Boomer Safe Space feature that prevents down votes on your comments.

Don't worry it's not that you're fragile, it's that you want to support the sport.

60% goes towards their Feld media payment and the other 40% goes to fund the US MXoN team. *except Deegan because obvious reasons

Its cute that people think I have a personal issue with down votes.

Im raising this purely for the love of the forums / the sport. I have been around long enough to see the difference it makes and how some groups weaponize it.

Im a large scale dairy farmer, made harder than most of you nancys know exists, I ensure you I dont need a safe space.
