Herlings’ season continues at the MFJ-GP in Sugo, Japan

Off the back of one of the most successful Honda season’s in history, Honda HRC PETRONAS rider Jeffrey Herlings will make the trip to Sugo, Japan and line-up for the final round of the Japan Motocross Championship on 31st October – 1st November.

The Bullet ended up winning 13 GPs and 22 motos, including a sweep of the last eight GPs, which then continued into the Motocross of Nations, where he went one-one, winning his class and helping the Netherlands to third step on the podium. However, this will mark the first time in his career that he will be racing in Japan, something he is looking forward to.

I am very excited to go to Japan and race. It is a country I have never visited before, but always wanted to, so I am thankful for this opportunity and will try to see as much as I can. Obviously it is an important race for Honda, and I am one of a long line of their riders who have made this trip, so I feel proud, especially off the back of such a successful year. It is my chance to say thank you to a lot of the engineers in person, the people who worked behind the scenes to help make this Honda CRF450RW so awesome, so I will make sure to do that and just enjoy the experience as much as possible.

We are very happy that Jeffrey can make this trip to Japan and race in front of our fans there. It is always a nice occasion and he’ll get to meet some of the people from the factory, so while the racing is always serious, there will also be some celebratory moments with the Honda staff there, who have been helping him this year from afar.

Geez Jeffery’s done a lot of racing this year when you include the off-weekend national rounds he’s done. Thought he’d be looking forward to a rest.

I’d love to see him race in person, but not enough for the five hour drive to Sugo. Jo’s racing the Off Road Village round this weekend and I’m debating on whether or not to go. It’s only about an hour and a half drive, so definitely more manageable.

If I were you, I'd make the five hour drive. If you've never seen him ride, this could potentially be your only chance. You're in Japan and he most likely doesn't have many years left before he retires.

Can't you take one of the high speed trains?

He is riding the crest of a wave right now so why not go show Japan what their paying for.

Big ? What bike is he riding just now as it may be showing that US HRC team is going to be at the front for another season (at least)

Watched that last night. I ended up not going, because my wife got home from back-to-back business trips the day before, so we went out for lunch and dinner instead.

You still have a chance to go see Herlings.

Don't miss it!

JH84 is such a bad ass. Cool to see him and Cooper Webb doing some racing year around. Seems some of these guys realize when the end is coming soon.

Unfortunately, I have to miss it. My mother in law is going in for heart surgery next week, so I have to take my wife up to her place so she (my wife) can take care of her. The surgery doesn't seem like it's too big of a deal, but the old broad is 84, so my wife is being overly cautious.

She’s 84?

If that isn’t a sign to go watch the 84 race in person 😉

To make himself financially secure for the rest of his life, makes sense to me.

This man absolutely refuses to rest.

Honestly I think his whole "making money" schtick is a joke he's playing up. Ain't no money in MXoN, he just cares about nothing as much as he cares about racing. He is exactly what DV was talking about "sleep motocross, shit motocross, fuck motocross."

I can see this guy racing up to 40 yrs old and probably winning. Have to admire the discipline and love of racing.

For someone who is busted up and held together by nuts and bolts to go and "race for the money",  he has a property portfolio and could easily retire now, he's just a badass, he's not a multi world champ by sitting on his arse and not putting the graft in.
