And back to Alpinestars for gear. I wonder how different this will go because his time on Suzuki at JGR was not ideal.

JGR also couldn't find a sponsor to keep their team running. PMG took the same exact bike platform JGR had to a SX title and have now secured 3 different title sponsors since then as well. As cool as JGR was, I feel like they also did some things wrong.

And for what it’s worth, Barcia’s time on JGR Suzuki was on the previous generation 450, not the current generation.

Why is this an indictment on Ducati?

To be fair, no one’s time on Suzuki at JGR was really ideal..or Yamaha for that matter 😂

Barcia is just like sexton. Always pointing the finger at the bike. This guy goes through more bikes and trainers than any rider we have seen.

Which is interesting, because according to J-bone, Barcia preferring the Zook was a factor of the decision to switch from Yamaha.

Previous generation 2008-2017 wasn’t much different than current. BFRC shock and lighter frame I think. Justin has been on Yamaha, GasGas and Ducati since then so I think that bike feel will have to be re-acquired anyways.

Current gen doesn't have BFRC anymore, all KYB. And along the same lines, previous gen was on Showa air fork.

Kenny’s got the bike dialed, Anderson was getting some top 5s on it, I think Bam will be fine on it as well.

^^^Granted, the wreck with Malcolm was very bad. It’s wonder that Barcia walked away from that one. Imo Barcia is still recovering.

Weren't they at the beginning of the current generation?

The team ended with the current gen but initially started on the previous gen.

I wonder if this includes outdoors? I don't believe it says specifically anywhere whether it is just Sx and SMX or if they're doing the full outdoor series with him as well.

@ML512 What helmet/goggles is he wearing? Is the reason we're not seeing him on the bike because those aren't done yet?

It was basically wrong place at the wrong time as Suzuki Japan chose not to keep the support going. I think JGR could have flourished if there wasn't the lapse in Suzuki backing which is unfortunate.

Happy for Barcia for getting a ride this late in his career. It’s crazy thinking how 2027 will be his 19th Pro season. Even crazier to think that 2 riders who also were in his first Pro race are still racing as well (Max Anstie and Vince Friese).

Didn’t K-Dub do 20 seasons? BamBam is right up there with him
