6D ATR-3.   Fit is subjective, but switching to 6D literally allowed me to breathe better as it sits at the correct height on my head and doesn't smush my goggles into my nose like almost every other helmet.   It's light and, as mentioned, flows air.   The first time I rode with it I thought my exhaust cracked as my bike seemed much louder.   The pads are quick and easy to remove and wash.   I've also had the misfortune to test it to level of cracking the shell wide open and zero issues with my head.

Have used Arai,Bell,Fox all good but my best experience has been the Airoh Aviator2 ,comfortable and easy to wash liner, lightest and most ventilated helmet I've ever owned.Knowing helmets are such a personal choice especially if you're picky it's kind of hard to just go with an opinion but just my 2 cents.

Unfortunately I crash tested a Leatt 8.5, landed sideways off a tabletop, got caught up in the handlebar and hit the front wheel head on. I dented the EPS, but didn't even felt a headache, concussion or anything at all. To be COMPLETELY HONEST, I only realized I hit my head because my goggles rubbed my forehead a bit, and my visor broke off. Needless to say I replaced it with another 8.5, I have had a concussion before and IT WAS NOT ANY FUN.1000314986.jpg?VersionId=Y GJiuL1000314987.jpg?VersionId=tXUuobnGSg1qQVDEA1510003149881000314991.jpg?VersionId=TRQjfUgPKV0ST

The one that fits the best and is also ECE 22.06 certified. That will be different for everyone, but for me, it’s:

  1. Astars SM-10
  2. 6D ATR-3
  3. TLD SE-5

Perfect!   The Sm10 is a great helmet so it’s hard to beat but I agree 100%

A 6D ATR3 fits me well, seems well made, and seems to have the best or at least is one of the top few for concussion protection.  Plus I like their Patriot paint scheme.

I would also recommend the 6D ATR-3 if you can swing it. My last two helmets were the TLD SE4 and SE5. While those helmets were super light and flow air insanely well, they have goggle port issues. I had issues with my goggles not sitting on my face correctly and forcing the goggles into my nose making it hard to breathe. The 6D ATR-3 has none of these issues and my larger Oakley Airbrakes now sit perfectly on my face without any nose pinching issues.

I like the 6D helmet. I love the way my Arai helmets always fit, but crashed in one less that a month old and sent it back for them to check and it was toast. I crashed in my 6D ATR-2 and for $145 including the visor, I had a safe helmet again. The Arai did it's job though and I love the fit and look, but the fact the 6D can be refurbished in most cases has me wearing one. I am thinking about upgrading to the ATR-3 through as the ATR-2 I have now is pushing 5 years old.

For real? That bums me out. I have a Fly and was gonna try a 6D. I tried on my buddies A-Stars SM-10 and hated it...

I would still try one on if Your interested in one before you decide.  Its funny how the Fly Formular is one of the only helmets  that I have not heard anybody complain of how it fits. They seem  to have found some magic in its sizing and build.  With the 6d and SM10  , I've had people  love and hate the fit.   Like most helmets. But everybody that I've talked to that tried on  a bunch of helmets  has said the Formular fits them great.

I have not played with the adjustability of the SM10,  but that is a cool option that has helped some of my customers finetune the helmet so that its turned into a favorite when they were on the fence about how it fit until the adjusted it.  Alpinestars offers thicker cheek pads for the SM10 and SM7 .

Had a 6D, now a SE5 and have the same issue with my goggles riding down on my nose, wasn’t a problem with the same goggles and the 6D. I’ll be going back to 6D.

I got an atr-3 last winter and like yourself my atr-2 was the same age. Definitely upgrade to the 3. It's smaller in size it's quite a bit lighter and flows air better.

I have a CC Formula and 2 Carbon Formulas, either version is a good helmet. Definitely go up a size on the cheek pads to make them smaller though.

For me it would be the following, in no particular order: Bell moto-10 spherical, Alpinestars sm10, and 6d atr3. Any of those 3 any day.

I like the fly formula. You can get last years models on discount for pretty cheap if you don’t care about the graphics. That way if you hit your head it’s not as big of a deal to just shelf it and pick up another one. I also love the way they fit. I had a troy lee designs helmet before that and it felt like I had my head in a vice grip even after going up a size.

the bell moto 10 was the only helmet, for me, that i just couldn't use.  It kind of sits on the top of you head and i didn't like that one.

To further mt input after reading back through. My fly formula was good when new. After break in i started to get an uncomfortable pressure point right on my forehead. My face also began to feel uncomfortably close to the chin guard. My Alpinestar fit pretty good but the pads and chin strap deteriorated pretty quickly after washing regularly. I tried on a newer shoei as i wore them alot when i was younger. Felt comfortable but immediately felt heavy. Tried the moto 10 on and it seemed to sit very low on my head. I couldn't find a high end airpoh to try on. Admittedly when i bought my 6d i never tried it on either. Talked to a rep, told him my in between issue, he suggested the pad swap and i swear it feels tailored to my head. If i have one complaint, it still LOOKS big on my head lol. 4838.jpg?VersionId=tHCkZemszyT8gdXVxgoSRUNlIK09U
