Next year's 450 motocross championship will be an absolute murderer's row. Lucas will be here and Deegs will have another year experience along with Prado having another year on the KTM that he's comfortable with.
Out of the 5 possible champions next year who do you think will never win a (or another) 450 MX Championship. Even though Jett and Hunter already have championships they are still eligible because I'm talking about all 5 of them as a group. I'm not including Davies because he won't be on the line in 2027, but he will have to be dealt with in 2028 and going forward.
Poll
I have just viewed the poll, You guys are funny!
Keep up the good work!
Prado, Coenen, Jett and Hunter will all be on new bikes for 2027. Which can be a good or bad thing, the new bike might not suit everyone and there could be some setup issues for some riders.
Deegan has the same bike for next year, so he should have an easier task getting a good base setup for himself.

No Sexton?
At what point does Deegan start trolling Coenen and trying to get into his head?
Deegan's had all year to find a good base set up and hasn't done so...
Yeah i know, the pressure is on and he can't use bike setup as an excuse when all his competition will be on brand new bikes with zero data in SX and American MX.
Edit: I will correct myself, he can use it but it would look bad/stupid.
Sexton is too obvious and OP wanted to make the list meaningful. It won't help conversation if nobody else gets any votes.
Another thread that isn't about Deegan but is. This place is insufferable
They cannot help themselves.....they are Vitards.
I'm an idiot and read the poll wrong. I thought it was asking who was most likely to win.
I'll leave my replies as is otherwise. But I don't really have an opinion of who will never win a title. I'm a fan of all the riders and enjoy good racing. I honestly don't want to think about one of them not winning, or not winning again. Its not a fun argument for me personally.
Wow, a lot of Deegan believers here!
My thoughts on each rider in no particular order.
I think that if Jett is able to get back to 100% healthy and stay 100% healthy he wins the title. He and Hunter were regularly pulling big gaps on the rest of the pack up until this last round. The thing is, that he may never be 100% again. There were hints of him looking like he was back over the summer. He looked like he was having less pain, it really sucks that he reinjured himself if that is really what happened. So his health is a question mark for me. If he's not healed up and pain-free at the start of SX, I fear that it will linger and the chances of him making it worse or having another injury are higher .
I think that after Jett, Hunter has the best shot . He knows what Jett is doing and rides with him. That and being smart enough to settle on his off days VS going for the win will help his chances . I know he has thrown it away a couple times. But I think he's smart enough that he can learn and be a smarter rider. If he is able to figure out what's going on when he seems to throw away a points lead like he did in SX and then again at Unadilla, and is able to fix it. I think he's got a great shot are repeating.
Prado's win is not as impressive to me with the shenanigans that went on with the Lawrences along with Deegan's crash. I think that he's going to be good next season . And moto wins on the days when things are strange or he has good luck when the others are having an off day . But not a title guy if all of the named riders are able to stay healthy and ride the full series. I hope that he finds some more speed and confidence and is a bigger threat for the title. Until somebody other than a Lawrence is able to win more than 2 or 3 rounds in a season, it's not really realistic to think about a title with everybody staying healthy the entire season.
Both Coene brothers are a bit wild and I worry that he is not fast enough to be able to win without really pushing. And he will have to be willing to settle for second on off days instead of throwing away the season for a win. That and I worry about their style in SX. I hope that they chill out a little and take the time to learn SX and do not get hurt before the outdoors.
Deegan is on the path to match Lawrences speed. He has done it here and there for a few laps. He is a quick learner and as long as he still wants it bad enough, I think he will get to the point that he is winning moto's and a legit title threat. He is at that age that he can get distracted by girls and cars, and living that "lifestyle". I think he has the best shot at the title out of the riders that do not have the last name Lawrence. He has been known to throw away a title for a race win. So until he's able to win regularly, I do not think he's going to ride with the mentality it will take to get a title with 4 or 5 guys that are close speed wise. But I do think he's got the best shot at the title after the brothers Lawrence, if again everybody on the list stays healthy and close to 100% for the series.
I think that injuries will play a part in who gets the title. I really hope that is not the case and that everybody stays healthy. But when you have a bunch of guys that all want to win so badly, limits are pushed and its much more likely that crashes and injuries will happen. If everybody can start and stay healthy, we may just have one of the best seasons in a longtime. For most of my time following the sport there have been riders that dominate and a big drop off after the couple guys able to win. 5 riders who can win based on speed alone would be absolutely amazing to watch and I hope that is what 2027 brings.
If you’ve watched much of MXGP in the last year or two you’d see that Lucas and Sasha are quite different. Lucas was easily handling everyone in MXGP and doing it without riding over his head. Last year at MXoN he was right in the mix with the Lawrences. He will be a genuine title threat in the 450 class.
Sacha is a different story; he’ll be a threat in the 250 class, even with his crashing as most of that class is wildly inconsistent.
I could see he rode a little more conservative than his brother. But its hard to really know how they will be in a fulltime series with other riders closer to their speeds. Race wins are different from a title. And I'm not saying he or anybody listed is not a legit threat to win. Its just that one has to be more likely to win than the other right? One has to be more likely to fight harder for a race win over looking at the long-term and settling for second or 3rd if needed. Jett is one of the few riders at that level that I have noticed settling for less than a win when he just isn't faster . And out of all of those names I see Jett as being the strongest at doing that when compared to the riders on the list/pole.
A season with SX first, and then a couple guys that are on par with your speed , but have years of experience in the series and have won the title before. And coming from a series that he was winning easily until an injury took him out just lower's the chance of a title in my opinion.
Look at how Jett has made mistakes when other racers are closer to him speed wise and he has to really push.
I think that any of the named riders has a shot at the title if things go the right way. But they can not all win it. So if I'm predicting a winner I need to compare the riders against each other . If I think one is stronger than the 5 others at something like not risking a title for a win, that's compared to the guys that are racing for that title.
My list wasn't in any sort of order. During SX I was saying I wouldn't be surprised if Hunter won this title if Jett wasn't 100%. That doesn't mean that I didn't think that Hunter had a shot of beating Jett if he was 100%, just that I thought it was less likely.
Isn’t KTM coming out with a new bike next year? I wonder how Prado will take to that.
Normal poll: who wins?
Vital poll: who never wins?
Where the efff did that come from?
So any thread about top 450 riders for the next 7-10 years is a Deegan thread?
That took some mental gymnastics but ok, can you tell me why this is a Deegan thread?
Boy, I cased it on that one, didn't I? Or tucked the front........
I should have included him but out of sight out of mind.
If his head is right, he's a danger to win any championship, if he continues down his current trajectory he's done.
Pit Row
Yah I am an idiot, I read the question wrong . I went back and read it again after seeing Your post. I read it as who will win next year. After realizing I read that wrong, I can totally see how my posts will sometimes be misunderstood. The way I'll be heading one way with what I'm saying and then flip it back the other.
I don't think that any of them are really any more unlikely to win a title than the others.
I don't think it was a bad poll. If we include Chase there are 6 legit contenders. Following history one of those guys should win multiple championships so there are less championships available than potential winners. Who is most likely the odd man out?
I voted Jett. His ankle will prevent him from ever winning again. Such a devastating injury it’s already cost him one championship. Race wins maybe a championship never.
2 actually and if you include SX. These Deegs fans sure are something. I picked Hunter, just bc he's building and building. With that said, I think HD won't make a leap until he gets a lighter, more nimble bike that suits his stature better.
If it works out that way it will go down as the biggest "What if" in moto history.
Yeah, I'm guessing a lot of people either didn't understand the question, or voted for what they WANT to (not) happen, rather than what is realistic.
And you can't even vote for several of them -which is more than likely.
I’ll fill out poll after SX 😉 but agree going to be a fun one if everyone stays healthy
You know that's just going to feed the fire. He's now going to work to prove 22 more haters that they're wrong!
Post a reply to: Looking forward to next year and beyond.....
