1000% agree
Let’s adopt the Lawrence family.
Team Canada sells sponsor packages. Watch and learn AMA, watch and learn.
Well they aren't going to MXON this year either, I guess that means they hate America?
Maybe Team America could fund the trip by selling VIP experiences.
What we will need from France to make this happen is roping off all the prime viewing spots, set up some EZ ups so 300-400 people can comfortably watch the race without all those pesky smoke bomb wielding Euros touching us.

300-400 people American is like 600-700 French.
Could be more depending on if motorize wheel chairs are allowed.
That’s funny! At Red Bud in 2018, my wife and I were sitting smack dab in the middle of everything Team Spain. It was a hoot! Bring on the experience for both sides. We had each other laughing almost non-stop.
But yeah, Team USA needs to figure this out and it doesn’t seem that difficult. Team USA specific sponsorship packages, added in the graphics kits and on the jerseys. Add a $1 surcharge to all ticket sales throughout the season, etc.
We also have a fundraising booth with merchandise at all the National rounds, and there's also a website to buy merchandise.
The only thing that is really missing, and that I wish the series organisers would implement, is add a donation button when riders renew their license.

The AMA could easily add a donation button for when their members renew their license.
Would you like to make a contribution to Team USA for the Motocross of Nations in [insert event location] on [insert event date].
Thank you.
If Deegan won’t do it due to money then that’s embarrassing and quite honestly un patriotic ( and I’m not even American) I have to agree with others he just don’t want his ass kicked! If he didn’t flap his gums so much about beating everyone then he could do the event a lot more humbly.
Noooo Ah!
Remember what Randy Newman sang :
"We'll save Australia
Don't wanna hurt no Kangaroos
We'll build an all-American amusement park there'
They got Surfing, too"
Show some Humanity!
PS :
For those that are unfamiliar with that stanza / bridging verse, look up Randy Newman's ' Political Science' - It seems somewhat appropriate for these times............
This is pathetic, can I ask why should USA be financially subsidized when most of their considered riders are millionaires. Couple this with some other nations riders will lose money to represent their country. If this really is about the money and I highly doubt it then the American motocross community has lost it’s soul.
The days of mad dog magoo winning over entire continents of MX fans and Johnny O Mara putting in rides to go in the MxON folklore records are truly gone.
As for Deegan and I hate wasting words on a mouthpiece who constantly gets smoked by tens of seconds but he’s does this every year and is a motocross equivalent of a draught dodger. Any one thinking this flag waving phoney is a patriot is delusional. I look forward to better times when USA will have three guys who actually want to attend the biggest sporting dirt bike event in the world and don their American gear and helmets with extreme pride.
In the mean time the MXON will carry on and be the great event it always is.
I don't think you could you possibly misrepresent a position any more inaccurate. No one stated that they are making too much money. What has been stated is that the manufacturers, riders, and team personnel are not slave labor that work for free. I couldn't care less how much money MXGP makes off the race, what I do have a problem with is asking people to ply their trade for free.
Once again, why does MXGP get to collect massive amounts of cash without needing to pay the riders, teams, and manufacturers. No sporting event in the world works like this. Let's all have a bake sale so that it continues to cost MXGP pennies to put on this race. Don't want them to have to pay anyone that makes the race actually happen. And no the MXDN will not continue as it always has without MXGP making some financial changes to the way the event is run. MXDN has already lost Jett, Hunter, and Deegan, the number of risers who will refuse to go is only going to gain steam.
Or maybe ask MXGP to actually cover the riders expenses rather than using the riders as slave labor.
FFS... they are dirtbike racers. They aren't "plying a trade", they aren't "labour". They are getting paid to partake in a recreational activity.
MXoN hasn't lost the Lawrences. They are having a year off after 4 years in a row. And MXoN hasn't lost Deegan since he's never been.
Sadly enough the American media is trying to sell it a bit like that. They even brought Coenen in the mix while he is injured and has nothing to do with the team or him asking money. Also New-Zealand not sending a team (They will be back fast with the Townley kids, Coppins kid, Davies, ...) But it is absurd how they all jump on the Deegan-train. But it is there only top-american for the future years so they can't burn the bridges I guess.
Would you day that about a world cup soccer player? Hoe about an F1 driver? MotoGP is a little closer, is Marc Marquez getting paid to ride a street bike around like a dipshit on the freeway No? Yeah- pro athletes and pro race teams are exactly like a bunch of dudes hanging out on their tailgates between motos, if they even race and aren't just doing 15 minutes of play riding.
Yes I would say that. You misinterpreted what I said. I didn't say they don't work hard, or that the goals they set aren't worth pursuing. I'm saying as professional athletes let's not pretend they're as important as they (and others) make themselves out to be.
Pit Row
Isn’t it a big missed opportunity for Yamaha and Monster? If it’s worth it for them to pay HD and Star to go to Maryland and race in front of 25k people last weekend, it must be worth it to send one of there biggest stars to race in front of 100k people in France. This is going to come up again next year and so on. It would be nice if the big team sponsors could handle this in the off season. The crowd funding ideas make it look like an amateur sport.
Remember the only riders complaining about not getting paid are American. And to equate the conditions of these American millionaire athletes with the conditions of slaves is grotesque.
Real reason.. Danger boy doesn't want to go as it doesn't pay.. at least that is what Brian Deegan is telling his son.
Or people who only care about the racing. All other bull shit doesn’t matter to a lot of people….
To be honest, the US isn't a topic at all. The fact that the Lawrence brothers aren't coming is a topic. They are the only interesting drivers there. The Americans have nothing else to say; nobody is going to miss them. STAR Racing might as well not have said anything. Nobody in Ernee will feel any loss later on if there are no STAR Yamas.
Massive missed opportunity. It's the biggest event of the year together with A1. Why on earth wouldn't you want to be part of that from a marketing POV?
Not only are these people not using the opportunity to market their brands and products, they literally are voluntarily getting BAD PR from not going because of various shitty excuses.
The England football team (it's not soccer..) get a set fee for appearing in games representing England including the World Cup. They have traditionally donated all their fees to charity because it's seen as greedy wanting a fee to represent their country after earning big money representing their clubs. It's national pride v doing a job - two different things.
This also. Can someone saying the teams should be paid to go there show the purse the TEAMS are paid for racing the bationals or SX?
*I agree this event should be nonprofit and all proceeds go to the teams/riders to go there and then other groups that support riding areas and fighting for our rights to ride
In 2023-2024 the MA / HRC got the Lawrences to Europe. Last year the Belgians, French, Dutch,.. got their best possible teams to Ironman with the help and/or funding from their teams and national federations. Without complaining. Star has sent riders and bikes to Europe in the past without hesitation. But boohoo, all of a sudden it's all too difficult and expensive for the biggest and richest team of the AMA, which in itself is the biggest and richest federation there is in the world.
Excuse me for not buying that cop out.
They are plying their trade as PROFESSIOAL racers, they are not riding for recreation. Just because it isn't as an electrician, plumber ,engineer etc. it is how they make their living. They are not getting paid, they are being used by MXGP under the guise of patriotism so that MXGP can pocket all the cash. Just pay for the riders, teams, and manufacturers expenses to attend the event and it would be a whole new ballgame.
Jett, Hunter, and Deegan had a choice. They stated hat they needed a break, I agree the do. So instead of racing 3 extra races (SMX) just skip those 3 meaningless races so that you can represent your country. They would get all the rest they need and have a very good chance of bringing the Chamberlin trophy back to Australia again. I can't figure out for the life of me why they chose SMX over MXDN. Hmm, could it be $$$$$$ ?
