Question for everybody who is upset about Star Racing Yamaha proactively sending out a press release to notify the Moto-World they are out = If Star said it's a budget issue but if the Great American Motocross patriots step up and put their money where their mouth is . . . How much money would you take out of your pocket to support Star sending riders and bikes to the 2026 MXoN?

How about if the minimum donation were $500.00? This would be great, then somebody from Yamaha management could come online and call everybody unwilling to donate $500 to Team USA a bunch of slackers!!

Anybody unwilling to personally take a hit to their wallet should probably not complain.

I think most fans "donate" more than that every season by buying bikes and products from the companies that sponsor the teams. So maybe the teams should give something back to the fans instead of being greedy?

Okay, honestly. I am no fan of Star or Deegan. But name me one other pro racing series where teams and competitors do ANY event for free? Sorry, racing is a business and big money is being made at the Des Nations. The FIM and Infront can afford to share with the teams and riders taking the risks and putting on the show.

The world motocross championship, ever since Luongo stole it.

Star’s decision is fine by me, but I do have to question why the top US teams don’t seem to budget for this race when they are planning the season’s expenses. Clearly they don’t see the value of participating when the race is overseas. Just wish they would just come out and say that.

It begs the question: who is this race for, anyway? It seems like only us boomer fans even think it’s worth attending or paying attention to. As I mentioned in other threads, imo this race is for those guys who want to prove that they are the best motocross racer in the world.  Everything else is just noise.

….to prove that they are the best racers in the world..,well you are right, you aren‘t the best anymore! For the record:It‘s a team event, every country besides the US are sending their best riders, flame on!!!

What you are describing in your last paragraph would be an individual world championship race, not a team race. In a team race overall point management often trumps individual results. Could Stewart have beaten Everts? I have no idea, but I do know his team told him not to get drawn in and to hold position.

I intentionally disregarded the team aspect because I believe the most motivated racers are selfish and have something to individually prove. The Chamberlain Cup gets the headlines, but I believe the individual class wins are what ultimately motivate the racers.

Stewart wasn’t happy about backing off Everts.

Very unprofessional of Kay.  Hopefully, his team has a stern talking to with him for this antic.  Also, sitting in 9th overall in the MXGP class, he probably shouldn't be talking about dog walking anyone.

FLAG BOY

So a person who doesn't enlist in the military to represent and serve their country -- by choice --would be a hypocrite for holding up an American flag?

This is a real gotcha moment so go ahead and shoot me some down votes since you won't be able to justify your very poor argument.

Because it’s not a series but a one race event, sometimes the “not the best” can get lucky!

Star's logic and explanation is fine, but it also isn't new info this week. Every rationale they listed has existed forever. They changed their minds this week. So you either have to believe they're really stupid and don't plan ahead at all, or that the real reason for the change of heart now is something else. I don't think they're really stupid and don't plan ahead but it gives the bed bugs cover so I guess it'll work.

This is the same team that put the money and effort into sending webb on a 250 two years ago, but yes, totally believable that they won't do it for their golden goose if he wanted to go..... no way at all to make it work with all the sponsors chipping in if he wanted to go...... he's already going to be in Europe racing but this one is where they draw the line and tell Deegan no.....

What is mind boggling to me is that there are people in the comments who could care less about MXdN. It’s all about perspective but since I was a kid and even to this day MXdN is easily my most anticipated race of the year. It’s the only time we get to see the best talent this sport has to offer worldwide collectively come together to race.

It seems the older generations care a little more about MXoN, makes sense to me, ain’t nothing what it used to be these days. I always look forward to it even though it hasn’t been what it should recently

I still love the idea of the MXoN, I do think it should be a chance to claim best rider in the world and be a patriotic showing. Maybe it should be every other year or something closer to “Olympics” style? Just SOMETHING to make it a bigger deal these days and give it the respect it deserves.

As an American I hate to see the lack of involvement, but if all the foreign riders are coming to the USA series anyways because it’s the “peak”…why would we care about anybody “beneath us” (I don’t agree with this sentiment, and I love the enduro GP’s and MXGP’s) but if the USA stuff is the big leagues numba 1. Who gives a F about anybody else…I can see that perspective as well. Star def thinks so 😂

Make these busy seasons play together nicer with all these other series and races. Or skip years. 🤷‍♂️

  • Hong Kong: ~$768,000
  • Turkey: ~$531,000
  • Malaysia: ~$353,000 (plus a lifetime monthly stipend)
  • Kazakhstan: ~$250,000 to $370,000 [1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6]

Mid-Range Payout Countries
  • Italy: ~$213,000
  • Philippines: ~$200,000
  • Hungary: ~$150,000 (plus lifelong pension benefits)
  • France: ~$86,000
  • United States: $37,500 (via "Operation Gold")

If you were going nuts for team USA in the 2000s and you all of the sudden decided MXDN doesn't matter when we stopped winning then you are a major dork ass loser. This shit used to mean something. It's just sad now.

They have been charging the $25k for a few years now for any off season races out of the US...WSX, Paris SX Australian SX all pay the fee to Star for their riders bikes and personnel....This a Team USA funding issue more than anything...they're Morans thinking that RaiseIt4USA is going to get enough money to support it.....I'd even go as far to say that fewer than 10 members on here has donated to RaiseIt4USA....

ROTFLMAO, you're grasping HARD to make sense of WTF your hero boy is doing.

I know it's hard when your boy goes belly up and looks like a hypocrite but face it, he waves that flag whenever he can but then doesn't have what it takes to back it up.

Last year when he made a fool of himself at the last SMX race playing bumper cars with Shimoda and broke his collarbone , he went out of his way to say he was working his azz of to make last years MXDN as he didn't want to miss it.  What changed in the last 12 months that Duboy now no longer wants any part of battling the Euros at Ernee.  Has nothing to do with finances and everything to do with not wanting his azz handed to him by a bunch of Euros.

Take off those Duboy shades for a moment and look back on all his excuses for not wanting to go to any of the past MXDNs and you should be able to see that your Duboy is all talk leading up to the race but then has always found a way to weasel out.

Regarding that total nonsense question about "anyone else holding up an American flag being a hypocrite" ...LOL, can you come up with a comparison that is more tilted? I was in the military and have zero issues with patriotic americans that wave our flag. Unlike your hero DuBoy, normal folks waving the flag aren't trying to drum up clicks on socials OR doing that waving of the flag on the podium while spouted off that he's the fastest American.  Your Hero is a blowhard who couldn't give two cents for his American fans and that includes you.   Get a new Hero!!

We already have a donation arm for Team USA and you can donate whatever you want....and it is clearly failing or those in charge of it are failing....just charge a $.50 surcharge on ticket sales which would raise around $500k for the event...

It's easy to blame the Deegans and Star but that doesn't solve the issue that a country of our size and with the majority of the worlds MX industry based here fails as miserably as they do in raising enough funds to support the team and their expenses....be angry at them as that is the main reason we can't send our best team. No factory team or rider should have come out of pocket to race this event...For Christs sake we have a podcast that raises over a $100k to support privateers surely there is a way to raise enough money to defer the costs of Team USA.....RaiseIt4USA isn't the answer obviously....

Very unprofessional of Kay.  Hopefully, his team has a stern talking to with him for this antic.  Also, sitting in 9th overall in the MXGP class...

This is so lame.... let a guy poke fun and be himself and talk smack, you are the reason for a sport with too much vanilla.

Go dog whistle somewhere else...
