If that's true, there is a global deficit of digital storage, then why does the cost of it continue to drop?
Normally, digital storage gets cheaper because technology improves, capacity increases and mass production lowers the cost per gigabyte. But that does not mean the hardware always gets cheaper.
A typical 32GB DDR5 kit that cost roughly $100–$200 in October 2025 was starting around $350 by August 2026, when available. DDR4 prices have also risen because manufacturers reduced production while demand remained strong.
GPU prices have increased 40–45%, copper is up roughly 65% over the past two years and new rack servers are generally 15–20% more expensive, especially those loaded with RAM or GPUs. Hard-drive prices have also increased, particularly for large enterprise and data-center drives.
While not everything is astronomically expensive, the data-center boom has clearly affected the industry and the broader economy. It is creating high-paying jobs and massive investment in construction, equipment and power, but it is also raising the cost of land, labor, electricity and the hardware everyone else needs.

The data center push isn't driven by consumer demand, cloud storage for a normal person is literally free (via google for example).
The reason for rising raw material costs is because the data center push created an artificial demand for their construction materials.

For 99.9% of users they could sell an AI box to use at home and it would have all the compute you need... but the data centres are about surveillance and data harvesting, convincing the general public that they are required for their little money losing chat bots is purely about manufacturing consent for government and non-government complete control and completely monitoring and monitoring of every part of your life...
And yet, everything you mention is only about 'manufacturing consent' as is the weekly reports of AI 'breaking containment' -- complete bullshit designed to make you think its more powerful than it is... it's purely about surveillance and data harvesting for maximum government and non government control.

I wasn't sure if you were trolling or just working with out of date numbers. But your position about paying a fee for cloud services. You have no news.
Cloud service as a business in a simple search: It is currently $1 Trillion dollars per year, world wide. This is AWS, MS Azure, Google Cloud, Oracle and other companies selling servers and storage for a total of $500 billion per year. Then adding MS365, Salesforce, Adobe CC, Dropbox bringing in another $850 Billion. Apple rounds it out with $109 billion in total sales in 2025. Which included: App Store, advertising, AppleCare, Apple Music, Apple TV+, payments and iCloud. And yes, paid service comes with contractual obligation of privacy to a certain extent. Then there is the people that build the Data Centers and lease the facilities to the above, they are worth around $300 Billion a year. There's a few clams being traded.
Aussie, Surveillance here in America is about 1% total usage space and AI is about 8%. Its mostly streaming. I can't speak for Australia or UK where surveillance is much more prevalent. You are spot on with desktop AI boxes. You asserted that individuals' demand for cloud storage is creating demand for Data Centers.
I suggested that was not true since cloud storage for individuals is already essentially free. Showing the free market dynamics that supply overwhelms demand.
You tried to pivot by saying cloud service for business is a Trillion dollar industry (implying the magnitude equates to demand)
However, it's not a trillion dollar industry from the free market, it's a trillion dollar industry primarily because governments giver our money to contractors. As a similar example, reducing atmoshperic Carbon is a Multi-Trillion dollar industry.
Also you keep telling me I'm not looking things up and that means I'm uninformed. To the contrary, the industry I work in has a big rise in demand because of data center construction. It's raising our costs across the board because the established manufacturing markets don't produce enough raw materials to meet supply. I don't need to look anything up to see that, it's my day to day.
Kawasaki uses aluminum mounts and I haven’t heard of a single issue. I swap them out for 16-18 steel versions so the pin holes don’t wallow out as fast.
