This week in his Observations column he mentioned Deegan wanting a bonus for winning or podium, and how the AMA doesn’t have that kind of money. Meanwhile Star is doing the 50k per bike deal.
This brings up some interesting points. Should the manufacturers emphasize the MXDN and push riders to participate? For a one off race weekend it really puts out the numbers.
Personally I think it would be awesome if the sponsors and OEMS kicked in. The problem being the smaller countries won’t have a chance. Thoughts?
The problem is the race is more focused on the countries, and with the mixed brands on a team it doesn’t put an emphasis on the brand. It shouldn’t be up to the manufacturers to foot the bill for MXDN. I do think there should be a decent purse, but it shouldn’t be up to the manufacturers. IMO the manufacturers already foot the bill to much in this sport.
Should be up to the countries motocross federation to find sponsors/fund it IMO.
I love MXdN, but it's a huge shakedown by Infront or Youthstream or whatever they're going by these days. What a ripoff...talk about Italian mafioso....
Crazy…
I don’t remember RC, MC, Stew, Dunge, Tomac or ANYONE asking for a single dollar to show up 🤔 almost like he thinks he’s special?

i think its a fair ask. not just from deegan, but from anyone. would you go work in another country for free?
Deegan is going to make money and add to his legacy if he wins at MXDN. His sponsors will be running ads highlighting his performance and he may even pick up additional sponsors as a result.
Working for a vacation?
Isn't that how you get to vacation, by working?
Someone gives me a trip to France, and I just have to work a few hours? Hell yeah!
Understandable he wants a win bonus as he hasn't had one for a while.
I don't think he is "given" a trip to France. The out of pocket sum of $20,000 for a rider to spend so he can participate while others make money off him racing has been speculated.
It's all the not needed staff and family they take that adds up.
Nepo baby needs more money??? Lmaooooo #neverchangetalibandonger
This leaking might be more embarrassing than the “rip Jett” shirt. Hard to decide 😂
So, you're telling me that it costs the rider $20k to race MXdN?
Yeah, I don't think anyone would show up for that.
This is an interesting topic. I completely understand the sentiment of doing it for the good old USofA. But I also understand the risk vs. reward aspect of this race. There’s always risk and zero monetary reward. I personally don’t work for free, but I’d take a “free” vacation to ride/race dirtbikes. With the amount of good paying off season races these guys are able to do I understand why they would want to be compensated. Also providing win/podium bonuses may actually get these guys to push a bit more then just participating in the spectacle of MX desNations.
Exactly-no reason they can’t pay these teams with the amount of basically guaranteed ticket sales for the event. Each nation should join together to not go until payed or at least some kind of purse for the A main teams
That $50k Star fee would get laundered right into Doucheboy's bank account. That's how the game is played.
He's not special and he ain't worth it.
The MXoN is just a shuffled up MXGP race without the US. My opinion is the promotor should fund the US Teams coming. Not pay them, but pay for the travel and expenses etc. That would free up the funds from the teams to add bonuses to riders and hopefully send our best.
They use the guilt of patriotism against the riders so THEY CAN PROFIT.
The THREAT...that they can paint a bad picture of the rider not loving his country...knowing that ENOUGH of the fanbase...will not think for themselves and believe this bullshit is real.
Pit Row
Why won’t the AMA offer him a bonus? He’s not going to podium anyway
He may in a class. Like him being in open class for example. But in an actually race he ain't getting a podium.
People I believe that will beat him. Both coenen brothers. (yes on a 250). Herlings. Prado. Maybe Farres and Febre.
I don’t think riders should have to pay a dime out of their pocket to race MXdN. I also don’t think sponsors should be able to use the patriotic images in their ads unless they kick in financially to help fund it (not just providing product). Maybe I’m a flawed guy but it would bother me to spend $10-20k to get myself and family setup across the planet and see companies who sponsor me using those photos for ads to market their products for free.
Who benefits from positive MXoN results? Anyone involved in the AMA outdoors series. Coombs, title sponsors, and broadcasters immediately come to mind. So that's who should be putting in the effort to get a top team across the pond.
I’m not sure I agree with the manufacturers footing the bill too much in this sport. They do this for marketing so they can sell motorcycles. Marketing costs money.
It is the biggest race of the season, why doesn't give the OEMs and Sponsors bonuses to the teams and riders, so the team can foot the bill and the rider has a nice pay-day. Then the federation doesn't need to find sponsors and the original team sponsors can be showed more. Because if the federations need to find the sponsors the teams need to clear the shirt and bike completely is my opinion, so they don't have to worry about sponsorship conflicts.
Deegan weaseling his way out again
Any excuse is better than none
Excellent news…..Deagan isn’t going to MXDN !
In Europe the teamowners are footing most of the bills and in the USA the same trend is starting with Star...
For what it's worth the US Olympic Committee pays athletes for medaling.
So anyways, we thinking a JCoop, RJ, Beaumer/Kitchen/Hymas team or what? Seems solid enough, and every one of those guys actually wants to be there.
Why just US team? US isn’t even a favorite to win anymore
Im sure Marchbanks would take Deegans spot if he is going to be a spoiled little brat
