Maybe I missed it somewhere but what’s the story on AP’s KTM quitting in both motos? Electrical it appeared but that’s just a guess.
its been happening a lot lately with the orange bikes....
probably doing some testing because he not in the points 🤷♂️
Having the viewing audience see your product being pushed off the track two motos in a row doesn't seem worth the gains of testing. Do that stuff at Aldon's where people won't see the failure.
The casual viewer that doesn't read vital just see's another KTM shitting the bed on live tv.
I hear that , when I saw a pair of broken pro taper bars on TV , I gave it a few more years before I let go of my crossbars. Pretty sure it was Yogi at a national on a Yamaha. 🤷♂️. One side of the bars completely broke off at the triple clamp , if my damaged brain remembers correctly.

Saw a guy break his Pro Tapers off like that at a Greys Harbor AX race back in...92 or 93. he got all whiskey throttle and went straight into a wall.
What a waste of money that race was for me. Signed up for 2 classes and maybe burned a 1/4 tank of gas if that.
Isn't the eternal joke on bike failure is that it's always an electrical issue - even if it isn't?
They mentioned on the broadcast that KTM couldn't figure out what happened with the first bike and that they were swapping everything out on the practice bike. I was surprised that they had no idea with all the telemetry they have on these bikes. Not surprised that it happened again on the swapped out parts..... I'd be surprised if Plessinger wasn't pissed about it.
Years ago, I had a set of aluminum bars break when landing from a very large jump (NOT Pro-Taper bars). As I crashed, my knee hit the jagged, broken piece still attached to the triple clamp, shattering my kneecap and putting a gash in the skin. (Other than some bruises, everything else was fine, and I drove myself to the ER.) It was several years before I tried aluminum bars again.
Did you keep your Kneecap?
I had a Lathe or a Mill 'fall off' the back of a truck in '81 (or was it 80?) as I went past it on a MC - result : No LH Kneecap.
He was testing the new pistons from the Indian supplier. 🇮🇳

3 months in a full leg cast. It's fine now, - no problems whatsoever. My daily driver at the time was a standard shift - learning to use the clutch with my left leg in a cast was interesting.
That was Jimmy Button on a DGY yz125 in sx. That was b4 the bars were shot peened.
How many ktm 450 factory bike mecanical dnfs is that this year now in just mx? 4?
Thank God that AP at least had it happen in spots on the track that didn't result in a Lucas Coenen at Southwick type of crash.
I thought it was Doug Henry at Atlanta? I saw him break a set there on a DGY YZ125.
Probably Doug too, Jimmy talked about it on the whiskey show about snapping his off. My bike was 70 yards down the track on my 6-27 crash. Only a small bend in the bars. Dr called yesterday from X-rays from Thur. 5 of 7 broken ribs r still separated. Strong bars & bike.
