IMO getting there early is silly. Unless you have a huge rig that needs a really good flat space. Van or truck and trailer. Just roll in sunday morning and there was plenty of room up on stagecoach hill. Especially if you have a pit vehicle to get around on.
Gotta arrive early and pay for a few days unless you want to be pitted in pits 4 miles away next to the bridge across from Lorettas house that you have to ride on pavement to and from your race
Coming from the west coast our largest expense was fuel to and from the event.
I was told by 1 dad with his son racing 2 classes in 2x areas from qualifier to both regionals to LL cost was over $10,000
It’s not crazy. Fees are like $1700 for two classes with pit pass and stuff.
Not bad for being there 12 days. My kids love going every year
The cost that’s expensive is all the racing/training to be on the level to compete there. My kid did make $500 from flo racing this year atleast lol
That is the worst part. We got there Tuesday night this year. Think next year I’ll just get there Sunday morning and park in the back in lot 5

Do the camping spots have full hookups?
They have only a limited amount of camping hook ups. Just making up numbers, but like 80 hook ups, then like 800 campers. So they do a lottery, if selected you get a hook up. It’s like $500 if you get picked
A lot of people think it’s rigged, and fast or people who know people get the hook ups. Idk, we got one our second year we didn’t know anyone
I parked in 5. Seeing the muddy (then dusty) quagmire and tight quarters everywhere else, i was completely content being 1.5 miles away. A creek side spot would be cool tho. The road didn't even take the tits off my new tires on the rides to and from the track. Did go through two tanks of gas on the ranger tho. Our camp was nice and open and we were able to pit with friends. Reminded me of camping at red bud for vet fest.
It seems expensive, but its only a couple hundred a day. Compare it to a Disney trip and its cheap. Plus unlike disney, we didn't see any confused drag queens all week either. Lol

I just booked / planned a vacation for the family (it’s been a tradition) to Disneyland in California. Flights / hotels / tickets. Now you have to have a speed pass, but not just a speed pass, a lightning pass premium.
Wish were were going to Loretta’s, heck I would pay entry fees just to spectate. WiFi for all of us, a rental cart and inquire about being a sponsor for VIP access and it would still come out cheaper.

It’s a lottery but not for ALL the spots. They only randomly pull say 20-50% of the spots. Not sure the exact numbers but it’s for sure some of the same families every single year.
That’s worse than road racing - add in consumables like food and fuel and you’re a few grand in the hole before wear and tear on the bike(s).

Wow, I remember back in 1984 we camped one night in a tent, and after the nasty humidity and getting dumped on by rain we went to get a motel for the rest of the week. It was about 45 minutes away.
I just made a video about this. In short the cost are 100% reasonable for the service you get. Definitely worth it.

The trick is, you gotta brag about all the cheater mods on your bike all week. Hope someone believes you and then claims you clapped out stock junker for 2X MSRP at the end of the week. 😁

Disneyland is the great grift of Southern California. You can literally fly to almost ANY other Disney resort, stay there, eat there, enjoy the parks, and spend less.
Have fun Regis, spend a night hanging out at Downtown Disney, its free and has all the stores that the park has. More time for Rides, though Galaxy's edge is pretty wild if you are a Star Wars Fan.
Paying too much for disneyland and paying too much for Lorettas can be a thing.
Just because Disneyland is pricey does not justify that everything else has to be super expensive.
Costs have gone up. I question how they compare to the cost of inflation though.

The price for the product and experience you receive is totally worth it. It is a moto vacation and is cheaper than other family vacations.
I used to buy into the fact that it's too expensive based on what I heard online, but after experiencing it first hand this week I can say I hope we get to go back.
Lot 5 is the best imo
Been three times when each of our kids qualified, 05, 10 & 22. My wife says she wants to go back almost every year, because she has that much of a good time. She loves watching the racing, but will also float down the creek literally about 15-20 times that week. Random spot in 05, lottery spot behind the gate in 10 (got the hook up!), and pitted with FCA MX next to Story Land in 22.
Did all three on a shoe string budget each time.
Funny story. I told our first two kids that if they wanted to go to the National Championship, they could only try from their home Region. Oldest son had just been racing MX for two years and he made it his second year trying. Daughter had been racing for 5 years, and got in her first try. When the youngest came around 10 years later, my wife made an exception for the "baby." Against my wishes, she said we would allow him to race in a back up Region in addition to his home Region. He ended up making it from his home Region.
Tokyo Disney is the prime choice for this right now. The exchange rate is at historic highs (weak Yen) making it very favorable for dollar spenders. Especially if you're close to any International airport with direct flights to Tokyo. Then there's all the other things you get in Tokyo... Japanese culture, service, cleanliness, lack of crime, etc.
Always wondered what non hook up camp sites did for power. You guys just running generators for 7 days?
