Hakan Anderson was world Champ, and I had the first XR-75, soon to be replaced with a Noguchi YZ80A.
Oh yeah, I also swung on a Harley 90 sidecar a few times.

From #1 forward. First race bike was the unanimously praised Suzy TM 100-1974 vintage. 14 horses, or so they claimed. I can't imagine riding one of those now....unless of course I had my Boge shocks on it. Or were they Konis? Too long ago, man, too long.

Got into dirtbikes a little before category 1. Attended Inter AMA race in 1976. Haven't been able to or tried to kick the addiction every since.

Way before any of that, I was at Spencer Park (out by Brea, Ca) back in the day were it was called "Rough Scrambles". Several years later at the 1st Mx race at Saddleback.

I think the OP left out a number on the generation scale. There should be a......

#8-The whines and bitches generation that has no respect for any of the riders.

#2 That's when I was racing (between 77 and 83). Lost touch with it until about 5 years ago, so my second generation is
#7. I don't race now, but still love the sport more than any other. Always will.

My time as a racer when I was young were the best memories I have of spending lots of time with my now departed father.

Pepperell Mass? You bet, Barry Higgen and Sonny Defeo. Remember the Ghost CZ's ?

I'm a pre 1 through 2 (very heavy) then picked up again a #6 and never looked back.

First pro race I attended was an Inter AM in '71. Bad Brad was a skinny, long haired kid on a CZ.

Heikki Mikkola, I had to stand before my class in 5th grade and try to explain what kind of effort someone put into their career. I always liked motorcycles and Mikkola was the world champ.. so that is what i picked to talk about.. I am 52 but I have been addicted to mx every since

Yep.

Now thats a heck of a ticket collection guy.

I'm sure you remember The Flying Hawiian, The Jammer, doves on crossbars, and the GP's, well, they were everything.

Laughing Remember when paul page was announcing a cmc race on that show and he kept referring Bader Manneh as RADER Manneh. I still laugh when I think about it.

I'm a 6, but I didn't get to start riding until 2001. Before that my family was kind of broke so I never got the bike I wished for as a kid.
