Mailin said today in the MX2 qualifying race that every rider in the top 5 in MX2 class could have gone 1-1 in the states and their 6th place rider could have won a moto. I thought that was a bit much. Especially since only 3 guys win in MX2 for the most part. What does Vital say?

Maybe stretching it a little bit, but not too far off the truth

Sacha put 30 seconds on everyone and won with a bad wing-

I’d think malins closer than not…

I’m not one to defend our series typically but their very recent champion Prado is having a bit of a tough time proving that they’re that much better.

I’m pretty sure the only reason Sasha is not 4/4 in sand races in Europe is due to crashing, go figure. So he’s only 3 out of 4 wins. He’s the favorite to win every sand race in the GPs.

In Sand he’s going to kill our guys. I think US riders in general are getting worse in sand. Sadly sand races don’t mean shit in America.

Farres and langenfelder everts all shred the sand as well no?

Sacha doesn’t put 30 seconds on those guys often they could have swept southwick podium had they came

Also yesterday look at the overall podium moto scores lol

I think Davies and Kitchen are right up there with speed outside of sand but the top 10 depth is much higher in mx2 despite the age rule. I'd say Sacha, Everts, Farres, Längenfelder, J Reisulis, Valin could have all won Southwick. On hardpack different story

You know aswell I do, that's not we call a "sand track"

Put the shoe on the other foot, if one of the top 5 ama 250 guys come over to a gp moto, could you see them getting a top 5, I'm not so sure

I think so, our guys are really inconsistent right now but if you put them over there sure, sans a sand race. I think both classes are weak right now. Not just ours. MX2 has zero depth outside of top 8-10 and the AMA guys can’t stop crashing.

I think Hymas has more speed upside than any of em. Davis has most AMA upside due to SX, but if Hymas could get on a roll here I think he would torch the AMA guys.

I think Farres, Langenfelder, Everts, McLellan, and Valin could all win motos in the AMA, but I don't know that they would come over and do what Sacha did.

A 40 year-old, retired, hasn’t raced properly for years GP rider just finished 6th in the US’ premier class.

I really don't think its controversal to say that the top 5-6 MX2 guys could go over and win Southwick. MX2 is probably at an all-time high level and the US 250 class is not at the level that we're used to.

Fished 7th in a MXGP moto last year with no front brake and 8th in the other moto for 7th overall. What’s your point? He also happens to be one of the best motocross racers that has ever lived. His best lap time in the GP motos he was two seconds off and today his best was 4 seconds off. He was also much closer to the leaders after his motos in the GPs too and it was at  Matterly a big track. At his age it’s amazing he can still do this. But you saying he over achieved today proves nothing but to further his legacy even more.

When I re read it I was realized my error. I put the 6th place part down and completely spaced on the top 5. I can’t believe no one said anything.

I think there's an advantage when a GP rider comes over in mx only form, full of confidence mid season.

When a GP rider has to go through the SX meat grinder first, then get 2 weeks to find a bike set up, learn a new track prob carrying a injury or two it no doubt levels the playing field somewhat.

How many GP MX2 riders would qualify for a East/West SX shoot out?

End of discussion Mr Malin.

I know, I know, I know....was just standing on the cats tails.

What we really need is a Grand Prix in the USA that is part of a round of the USA Championship, that way we get the best of both.

Why are yall getting your panties in a wad over this? I swear I've heard US moto media guys shit on MX2 for years despite the fact the riders finish the same/better when they race 250 Nationals. But Malin makes a comment about MX2 riders being better at Southwick and that's crossing the line, apparently.

Malin was stirring the pot, just as the thread title says, however saying any of the top MX2 riders could win a AMA round is not outrageous at all imo, it’s more probable than not.
The interesting proposal is what would happen the other way around? It’s a shame no US guys try the world titles anymore.
