All lives matter. It’s unfortunate that some Iranians  have chosen to take on the radical murderous mind set and go Jihad. Millions of beautiful Iranian people who are going through it and that’s sad. It’s actually hard to imagine it because most Americans have lived their entire lives in a secure environment.💔

There hasn't been a war in Iran since the Iran-Iraq war ended in 1988, the median age in Iran is 35 years old, most Iranians have lived in domestic "peace" their entire lives.

You can argue that their government is bad because it's illiberal totalitarian, that argument is weak if you also argue anyone who doesn't vote Republican is a traitor to the USA and you think liberalism is bad.

To those on that side whom you say "go jihad" we are the infidels and jihadists. We have been fucking around in the M.E. for over 50 years, both overtly and covertly, no wonder they hate us.

The bottom line is that Trump is not going to allow Iran to have nuclear weapons, period.

They also want Iran to stop funding terrorism, but nuclear weapons are the line in the sand.

The war can end with either the current leadership of Iran agreeing to that along with unhindered inspections, or by regime change.

At this point, I'm expecting regime change.

From what I can see, the people of Iran want a new government.

It seems very difficult to accomplish.

Just saw we took down several bridges. One in particular is probably half a billion to replace. If we agree to repair said infrastructure as part of next “peace deal”, I’m going to lose my mind!  Imagine how many bridges we could replace in US.

But, that deals dead.

Edit: to correct the Dr. Evil math.

I think you are missing a comma and 3 zeroes.

Also, the actual source of the 'reconstruction' money wasn't solidly identified.  The wording basically said 'the plan will be made later'.

"The United States, with regional partners, would develop a plan of at least $300 billion for Iran's reconstruction and economic development, with the financing mechanism to be negotiated later."

Agree with most of that but I disagree that majority of Iranians want freedom. This is their best opportunity in 40 years to do so.

Question:  if Iran had nuclear weapons, do the US and Israel launch attacks like we’ve seen this year?  The short answer is no. The long answer is nooooo. The ability to retaliate with nuclear arms keeps your enemies at arms length.

This is why Iran pursued a nuclear program. While a percentage of their population is fanatical, leadership is more pragmatic. They fully understand that the proactive use of a nuclear weapon releases its adversaries from military restraint.  Weapons of mass destruction’s power lies in the threat, not the use, especially when facing combatants with much larger arsenals.

Also consider China and Russia’s roles.  Neither nation benefits from an Iranian nuclear assault. The US, Israel, and neutral ME allies would rally and effectively assume full control of the gulf and strait. This is no bueno for nations relying on Iranian exports. Or export in this case.

Lastly, the US should carefully consider consequences before attacking infrastructure that largely supports the civilian population. Iran’s defense has historically included chemical weapons which could be deployed against an enemy’s civilians.  It would be a very aggressive response but one that could be deployed subversively on any population including the US.

Again, using a nuclear weapon on Israel or any other nation achieves nothing.  The THREAT achieves everything.  Israel understands this premise and does not want to give up its monopoly status in the ME. The balance of power lies in Jerusalem. A nuclear armed Tehran changes the discussion across the Middle East.

Should read: The Iranian regime has one goal:  EXPAND the existence of the regime.

You know, there are professional football teams that lose for decades, bring in a new head coach and start winning. The fact that we did something and it turned out bad, does not mean doing something is wrong, it could just be what we did was wrong.

America is not Jihadest. But I do agree that we should have never been over there in the ME in the first place. I believe now ,even if we completely withdrew and stop meddling in their affairs, they wouldn’t stop trying to kill us.

They could if not for all the other sects vying for the same piece of real estate. Iran is massive and prone to intra-border insurgencies. And the regime is constantly fighting internal battles as well. Sure, Islam would love to take over, but in the meantime, they’re more concerned about not waking up dead (shout out to Dave M).

Just read that their internal polling was leaked and 80+% of their public want drastic change. Maybe, just maybe this is their opportunity to change their government themselves.

I always try to keep a foot on the ground and when I see posts like this, it reminds me of how the right felt ignored when the left was in charge, and I'm talking about way before the liberal tears revenge tour started in 2016. You're absolutely not wrong that we're being fucked, but we're being fucked by a right cock and right folks like that right cock, exactly the same as how left folks love getting fucked by that left cock. The key is for people to use these moments to see the parallels and reflect on their own philosophical inconsistency which is really just a form of dishonesty. It's a big mountain to climb, but swapping today's disingenuous weaponization of every issue for just a splash of honesty, would go a really long way.

You’re correct. If any of this shit was happening under Biden or Obama there would be several here losing their minds. Same with the expansion of the hyper scale data centers. I don’t like left, right, or any cock for that matter.

Always so much bothsidesism on this issue and it drives me slightly crazy. The stated goals of Islamic regimes are not shared by Israel or any other developed nation. People just refuse to take them at their word when they talk about conquering the world and killing their enemies as official state policy/religious doctrine. Nobody else is doing that no matter what selectively edited quote you can find from some guy somewhere in government.

You can choose to take it literally and pretend to not understand the point if you'd like to, I'm not going to go looking for links to convince you to do otherwise.

You’re a smart guy. If you’re feeling froggy go read about the Greater Israel concept.
