I remember two things from 2023 when they've raced each other. One was Hunter standing up for him and defending Deegan at a SX post race press conference and then a Gypsy interview where despite Deegans trashtalk during outdoors he only spoke in high regards about Hunter, said "he has to learn from the best and specially racing someone as talened as Hunter helps him etc". I do think he has a lot of respect for him because of that and he probably also knows that Hunter is a menace and you can't fuck around with him.
I found it. Hunter is pure class man. People remember stuff like that and I bet he does too.
He got third. Same result he gets every second week.
He is yet to finish ahead of the Lawrence boys for an overall. He is yet to even truly capitalise on a bad day from them. They could both sit out next week and still be ahead of him in points even if he went 1-1.

He’s not riding bad. He’s pretty consistent just as he was on a 250. Never gives up. But he isn’t gaining on the Lawrence boys. Not yet any way. Not even when his team rents out the track to come in with better preparation.
Jett gapped Haiden pretty quickly to catch Hunter. Last week Hunter gapped him pretty quickly to catch Jorge.
Jett backing off after the guy he was battling for the lead crashes isn’t progress for Deegan. It’s Jett being Jett and Hunter being Chase.
