Mmm, I can't go along with that. They seem to have some really good road course guys in that series - some have beaten him and others have given him all he wants. On the other hand, it's taken him a few years to look like he can be competitive on ovals. Why such a disparity in the results if "just turning left" is so easy?
I've heard people berate oval drivers through the years, saying, "how hard can it be to turn left all day?", when the truth is that these guys didn't come up just turning left. And if it's so easy, how come drivers from other series don't just come in and take their lunch money?
I don't have a dog in the fight, but it sure looks like the NASCAR regulars are much better on road courses than road course guys are on ovals when each has to do the other type on a limited basis. Regardless, it seems to disprove that, "just turning left", is something anyone can do with ease.
I was only joking, but the reality is that SVG’s doing amazingly well, This isn’t like someone going from MXGP to AMA Nationals, NASCAR, especially oval racing, is a completely different sport to Aussie V8 Supercars where he’s come from.
No worries, we're good and I think we're agreeing - these types of racing are so hyper-specialized that you can't cross over and dominate another form just because you have in a previous one.
I really don't understand why, though. I mean, look at MX - how many times have you heard someone say, "How hard can it be? You just sit there and let the bike do all the work." 🤔
Of course, that may be how I try to ride these days, but then again, I gave up any and all delusions of trying to go fast a long time ago! 😄
