I think all lives of good people lost are a tragedy. Some people are bad people and I am in favor of the death penalty (for disclosure). But in the context of 13 service members lost, how do we gauge that against future lives not lost because this happened. I hear people claim "the mullahs said it's against their religion to have a nuclear weapon". Well if that were true, Iran would not have been enriching nuclear material. So we know that's not true. Would the JCPOA have expired? Why did it have a sunset clause if Iran truly did not want a nuclear weapon? And do I believe they would have used it? I believe it's highly more likely they would have used it before Putin used one. So how the final agreement reads will be the true arbiter of your question. Were those service members lives worth the way we left Afghanistan and left all that military equipment which is likely to have already killed our people since then and in the future? So if you were to put Iran on a dumb scale, it is nowhere near the bottom, even for you. But in the context of history, if Iran is kept from a nuclear weapon, I believe the historians will conclude the answer to be yes. If the final agreement has ambiguity and loop holes, then historians will conclude not. Keep in mind, the leaders of just about every civilized nation agreed Iran should never have a nuclear weapon but nobody could do anything about it. No matter what, any road to stop them would have a lot of things to criticize.

To me it seemed like Obama was able to reach basically the same deal without the loss of 13 service members lives, billions in wasted and destroyed equipment, without damaging the worlds economy and without pissing the Iranians off even more.

Why couldn’t Trump do the same instead of going in guns blazing and no plan? Incompetence or arrogance?

Actually Trump doesn’t think that, he knows if he says “Iran unconditionally surrendered “ all his followers will believe it.

Had Trump focused Americas efforts on forcefully stopping Russias unprovoked attack on Ukraine Trump would now be (justifiably) wallowing in all the international plauditory and praise he covets.

Instead he got played by both Putin and Netanyahu.

The Bibi playing is and will be never ending. It is currently on track to sending whatever kind of deal DT thinks he made right into the dumpster.

On Truth Social Trump took credit for the negotiations and in the same breath said Vance was to blame if things went south. Even went as far to say the VP was not part of the executive branch.  That kind of rhetoric seldom generates positive long-term results and echoes Trump’s transactional approach to the presidency.

Well Trump is a total narcissist that has no self esteem. All he cares about is how he think he looks, will throw everyone under the bus regardless , even if they are totally loyal to try and save his own ass.  He doesn’t care about America, the Republicans party or any of his followers. It’s only what you can do for him.  He looks at everything as a transaction to help himself. If he does do something for someone there is always something in it for him in the end.

Trump thinks Iran unconditionally surrendered...

His followers will likely just write it off as " The stuff he says that You don't listen to" .  Harmless bragging to help him stay on the good side of his supporters , that's all.  But will also likely argue that its true to some degree, perhaps even  knowing its BS deep down inside.

I really think that Trump keeps pushing his luck and that when his loyalist followers catch on to how he's been playing them they will 180 on their love and his popularity will  fall faster than panties on prom night.  I could be wrong, but I really think he underestimates the intelligence of his followers. How else do You explain some of his bold claims? That keep getting bolder with less and less factual evidence to back them up.  Its  like he assumes  his followers will always just take his word on everything and never look into it themselves. Or that they will not believe what they saw if he tells them they didn't really see it. I don't think that all of his loyal supporters believe all the BS he thinks they believe.Maybe they just like something he's doing enough to keep his lies' going?

I'll leave the CNN text here, so it can be compare to the actual MOU when it's released...

  1. The United States of America and the Islamic Republic of Iran and their allies in the current war are signing this MOU to declare the immediate and permanent termination of military operations on all fronts, including in Lebanon, and undertake from now on not to initiate any war or any military operation against each other, and to refrain from the threat or use of force against each other, and ensuring the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Lebanon. The final deal will confirm the permanent termination of the war on all fronts, including in Lebanon and other provisions of this paragraph.
  2. The United States of America and the Islamic Republic of Iran undertake to respect each other’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and to refrain from interfering in each other’s internal affairs.
  3. The United States of America and the Islamic Republic of Iran commit to negotiating and achieving the final deal in maximum 60 days, extendable with mutual consent.
  4. Immediately upon the signing of this MOU, the United States of America will begin the removal of its naval blockade and any disturbances or impediments against the Islamic Republic of Iran, and will fully end the naval blockade within 30 days. During this period, the traffic of vessels will be in proportion to the numbers of pre-war traffic being restored by the Islamic Republic of Iran. The United States of America further undertakes to remove its forces from the proximity of the Islamic Republic of Iran within 30 days after the final deal.
  5. Upon the signing of this MOU, the Islamic Republic of Iran will make arrangements using its best efforts for the safe passage of commercial vessels with no charge, for 60 days only, from the Persian Gulf to the Sea of Oman and vice versa. The traffic of commercial vessels will immediately start, and considering the need for removing the technical and military obstacles and demining by the Islamic Republic of Iran will be instated within 30 days. The Islamic Republic of Iran will conduct dialog with the Sultanate of Oman to define the future administration and maritime services in the Strait of Hormuz in discussion with other Persian Gulf littoral states in line with the applicable international law and the sovereign rights of coastal states of the Strait of Hormuz.
  6. The United States of America undertakes with regional partners to develop a definitive, mutually agreed plan with at least USD 300 billion for the reconstruction and economic development of the Islamic Republic of Iran. The mechanism for the implementation of this plan will be finalized as part of a final deal within 60 days. All required licenses, waivers, and permissions needed for the relevant financial transactions will be granted by the United States of America.
  7. The United States of America undertakes to terminate all types of sanctions against the Islamic Republic of Iran, including the United Nations Security Council resolutions.
  8. The Islamic Republic of Iran reaffirms that it shall not procure or develop nuclear weapons. The United States of America and the Islamic Republic of Iran have agreed to resolve the disposition of stockpile enriched material pursuant to a mechanism that will be mutually agreed upon in accordance with the schedule mentioned in paragraph seven with the minimum methodology to be down blended on site under the supervision of the IAEA. The two parties also agreed to discuss the issue of enrichment and other mutually agreed matters related to the Islamic Republic of Iran’s nuclear needs, based on a satisfactory framework being agreed upon in the final deal. The final deal will confirm the provisions of this paragraph. The United States of America and the Islamic Republic of Iran acknowledge the critical importance of the nuclear issues above mentioned. They express their intention to immediately address these issues in the negotiations in order to achieve mutual agreement on them.
  9. Pending the final deal, the United States of America and the Islamic Republic of Iran agree to maintain the status quo. The Islamic Republic of Iran will maintain the current status quo of its nuclear program, and the United States of America will not impose any new sanctions and will not deploy additional forces in the region.
  10. The United States of America undertakes that immediately upon the signing of this MOU and until the termination of sanctions, US Department of Treasury will issue waivers for the export of Iranian crude oil, petroleum products, and derivatives, and all associated services, including banking transactions, insurances, transportation, etc.
  11. The United States of America and the Islamic Republic of Iran agree that an executive mechanism will be established to monitor the successful implementation of this MOU and the future compliance of the final deal.
  12. After signing this MOU, and subject to the beginning of the implementation of paragraphs 1, 4, 5, 10, and 11 of this MOU, and the continuing implementation of these measures, the United States of America and the Islamic Republic of Iran will start negotiations regarding the final deal exclusively on the other paragraphs.
  13. The final deal will be endorsed by a binding UNSC resolution.

If there was ever an argument for renewable energy, it’s the fact that we won’t have to pay attention to the sandbox anymore.

How did you come to that conclusion? Do you have a background in intelligence? Military? Talking heads on CNN? MS Wow?

You think we should battle the Evil Putin in Ukraine? Something with a great possibility of ending in Thermo Nuclear War. But you think that preventing the greatest Sponsor of Terrorism from acquiring a Nuclear Weapon is, “No Win”?

What is it that you will stand up for? Is anything left worth fighting for? Or has the United States become a nation of soft, spoiled, girly men?

So let me get this right your opinion that fighting a military that has the largest and most advanced Thermo nuclear weapons stockpile and a much more modern military that poses a much greater risk to the USA and our European allies is soft and girly but attacking a country that doesn’t have any nuclear weapons and is only trying trying to produce the material that could be used in a nuclear weapons, has mostly old military weapons. Iran doesn’t even have the ability to attack the continental United States is tough and strong!   🤦

How about that missle at Diego Garcia? Shows Iran could reach our European non allies. So, your point is moot.

After these latest biolab disclosures, Putin’s reasoning for invading Ukraine is pretty solid. The tale you believe is a fallacy.

You don’t think Hamas, or Hezbolla, would walk a suitcase bomb across our border?

Russia is not a threat to us. Again, you don’t know what you’re talking about. A bunch of Ukrainian ragtag misfits are kicking the shit out of Russia with our equipment. What do you think that our professional trained force would do to Russia? Besides back them in to a corner, where nukes are all they’ve got left.

My combat experience started 19Dec89. I’ve also worked for DOE and DOD.

You still didn't read the documents about the labs in the Ukraine I see.   While there was worry about the labs, the worry was that Russia was putting out disinformation about them. And that they were only studying the impacts of the flu on Ukrainian hogs .

Of course I may have missed something in there so feel free to post some quotes with links to the page and document number.
