Lucas fast lap: 2:03.439 Average Top 5: 2:04.074
Deegan had the fastest lap in S1, S3, and S4. The only one Lucas was faster in was S2. Out of the 8 laps before Deegan's crash, Deegan was faster in 5 of them, including lap 8.

Deegan can join the club of riders who showed Jett a wheel, then proceeded to still lose the moto.
And then from lap 9 to 17 (the final lap), Lucas was faster every single lap. In fact, on those laps, 9-17, Lucas only went above 2:06 once, whereas Deegan only went below 2:06 once.
Deegan was faster up front but blew his wad too early.
Of course he was, Deegan said his bars were bent after he went down.

Dude was toast. He was going all in to pass Jett, aint no way he couldve hold on to that pace. He really looked "dangerous" going that fast, like in danger to crash hard. But I also think that was the reason he fell, he was just spent and pushing too hard. His cut tho was at least worth half a second, if not more.

Deegan has speed no doubt. What’s happened in the last four motos is that he’s sprinting at max speed for 15-20 mins just to keep up; no one can do that for 30+ so he fades in the last 5-10 minutes. The Lawrences know that, they probably aren’t even too worried if Haiden passes them because they know he can’t sustain it and they’ll quickly get him back.
In the last four motos the gap from Jett to Haiden has been 15s, 19s, 20s and 32s. Getting gapped by that much isn’t trivial; Haiden will probably improve but so will Jett as the season progresses.

I was noticing in that first Thunder Valley 450 moto that some of the crowd seemed pretty bummed out when Deegan slid out.
Many of those are “paid” to be there cheering him on.

Ok, ok….just made that up.
He says he is just making progress and learning, until after the moto where he cut the track about 12 times and was caught doing it 6 times.....but also rode well and was "close" to Jett.....then chirping in the interview that Jett knew he was faster and was looking back all the time. He always comes across humbles when gets worked like a pedophile inmate.....then turns into his alter ego when he does something good.
Some of you Deeganites take people criticizing the kid harder than he does. Take a deep breath and relax, everything's going to be ok.

HD is on the front end of his 450 career - he has speed, he has factory support and he has youth. He will get better at managing the moto as he matures - maybe this year - maybe next - but he will be a front runner at some point. I'm not sure where this ass out straight legs style came from, I don't remember that when he was on 250 but that has to change - it's going to hurt him on a 450
