CRf150R now officially dead?

Did anyone notice, in the recent 2027 unveiling, no CRf150R? Finally killing this antique?  Shows all models, right down to the smallest offering... but, a clear omission.

They announced it was no longer going to be produced when they dropped the 2026 models.

This is also the last year for XR650L

They need to give fucking Herlings a XR650 in the GP's so it makes the races.

I had a 650L for 20 years.  I called it my zombie apocalypse bike.  Roads weren’t necessary to get where I needed to go when I had that thing.

You'd think they'd do something to capture the younger riders.  A little out of touch.  Yes, all the fun bikes, but, hardly race ready... as was the 150R.  Imagine a little CR85R (CR112R) for the little guys!

I'm assuming Herlings is on the 27 model with the completely new engine, since the bros have never had a single mechanical dnf?

Is there just too much technical crap on bikes these days? Electronics etc., in the most harsh environment. After the race they whip the seat off, full blast with the pressure washer (even with a red hot engine!)  I like the old 2 strokes, think about how little there was on them to go wrong.

I think it’s simply the end for carburetors.

They should never stop making the XR650.  In 75 years it will still be a great bike.

I thought it was jett that had a 250 mechanical? Red bud maybe? It kinda let jcoop and hunter back into the title fight discussion. Seems it was moto 2 and moto 2 he just layed the wood in them again? I could be wrong though.

If they'd just fuel inject it and update the body it'd sell for another 30 years.

Maybe they both did at one point.

Definitely. Jett's bike blew up Red Bud 1st moto, I believe 2022. I just remember him riding angry 2nd moto and gapping everyone by 20sec, when he never usually won by such a wide margin. I believe the original comment is talking about 450. Theyve never had a 450 dnf I'm assuming

They had to drop it because it doesn't meet the new Euro emissions spec.

I don't think so. Suzuki had to put a catalytic and more on the DRZ-4s and it was already a significantly more modern platform than the XR650.

The old blasting a red-hot engine with a pressure washer is the most baseless fact going for damaging a dirtbike whilst washing it.

I take it people never ride through puddles / creeks or rivers because it might damage something.

I won't get all misty eyed, they were OK, but hardly legendary bikes. Maybe 20 years ago they were OK. BSA GoldStars are still revered too, and I still wouldn't want to ride or own one. Time moves on.

Really sucks that Honda is out of the mini racer game.

1000014236If Honda was serious,  they would have a little center port, unicam efi 150 in an alloy frame. Legacy model. 17/14 and Supermini wheels.  You could bng that for a decade.

They have a 150cc-ish efi system build around that keihin throttlebody/injector combo they put on the Thai market bikes. That's Yoders Amsoil EFI bike was.

Someone doing the numbers doesn't see a demand signal in that market segment and isn't willing to create one with a new product.

Honda put a lot of dollars and r&d into Yoders bike and from all reports it still wasn’t as good as rival 2st superminis

Honda said "two strokes are dead, four strokes are the future" then did fuck-all to bring it into the future by keeping it carbed for 15 years after EFI was introduced. They hit it with BNG for 20 years, lol.

If they made a CRF150R that was the same spec as the 250F, but supermini size, I would love to buy that for my shorter wife.

Too much tech on everything motorized these days. I dont think manufacturer's care what we really want. The K.I.S.S. concept is no longer part of engineering now. Blame all the regulations and greed? Hell, dealerships cant even troubleshoot and fix new cars and trucks these days.
